ABOUT THE ROLE
The STRATEGIC PLANNING MANAGER – APJ is a key business partner to Amplitude's APJ Sales leadership, responsible for operational excellence, strategic insight, and commercial performance across the region. Reporting to the Director, International Sales Operations & Strategy, the role translates data into action and partners with Sales leaders to build and sustain a high-performing go-to-market (GTM) organisation. It combines analytical rigour with strong stakeholder partnership and makes active use of modern analytics and AI tooling to improve the quality and speed of the team's work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as a strategic partner to APJ Sales leadership, providing proactive, data-backed analysis to support decisions
- Own the analytical agenda for APJ: monthly metrics reviews (Net ARR, pipeline coverage, headcount, close rates, forecast accuracy), QBR materials, and reporting dashboards (with the GTM Analytics team)
- Use analytics and AI tooling to accelerate analysis, automate repetitive workflows, and improve output quality across forecasting, pipeline inspection, and business reviews
- Lead APJ contributions to semi-annual planning: territory design, quota setting, headcount/capacity modelling, and carve preparation
- Build and maintain operating plans with VP and front-line leaders; drive the rhythm of business (forecasting, pipeline inspection, renewal readiness, pipe council, QBRs)
- Contribute to incentive/SPIFF design with Finance and Compensation
- Connect APJ Sales with Marketing, Enablement, Deal Desk, Finance, CS Strategy, and GTM Systems; drive accountability and surface risks
- Identify and drive process improvements with a bias toward automation; maintain a prioritised backlog with GTM Technology and Business Technology teams
- Ensure data integrity and hygiene across Salesforce to support accurate reporting and forecasting
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 8+ years' experience in Sales, Revenue, or Business Operations / Strategy, including business-partnering to Sales or GTM leadership in a SaaS or technology environment
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Analytics, Economics, or a related field
- Strong analytical capability: builds compelling, data-backed narratives and actionable recommendations
- Solid understanding of the SaaS sales cycle (land through expansion and renewal)
- Experience supporting sales planning activities (territory design, quota setting, headcount modelling)
- Proficiency in Salesforce (reporting and data hygiene)
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to distil complex analysis for executive audiences
- Ability to drive cross-functional alignment without direct authority and operate with autonomy in ambiguous environments
PREFERRED / DESIRABLE
- Hands-on experience using AI / LLM-based tools or AI-assisted analytics to improve operational workflows, and the ability to adopt new tools quickly; experience designing or deploying an AI-enabled workflow or process improvement is an advantage
- Familiarity with tools such as CRM Analytics, Clari, or Outreach
- Postgraduate qualification (e.g., MBA) is a plus
