JOB SUMMARY

The Technical Leader is responsible for the startup, stabilization, and overall performance of production lines, ensuring achievement of target output, quality, and OEE. This role drives technical excellence across troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, spare management, and improvement projects to ensure sustainable and reliable operations.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Key Responsibilities

1. Line Startup & Technical Ownership

  • Lead end-to-end startup, commissioning, and ramp-up of production lines
  • Act as technical owner of line performance and stability
  • Ensure systems meet URS, design, and operational requirements
  • Drive strong shopfloor presence during critical startup phase

2. Process Stabilization & Performance Management

  • Drive line stabilization to achieve target OEE, yield, and output
  • Identify and eliminate process variation and chronic losses
  • Implement robust process control strategies

3. Troubleshooting & RCA Leadership

  • Ensure structured root cause analysis (RCA) for downtime and quality issues
  • Ensure permanent corrective actions are implemented and sustained
  • Drive closure of recurring and chronic issues

4. Preventive Maintenance (PM) & Equipment Reliability

  • Establish and optimize preventive maintenance strategies based on:
  • Failure modes
  • Downtime trends
  • Ensure PM effectiveness in reducing:
  • Breakdown frequency
  • Unplanned downtime
  • Work with maintenance team to:
  • Improve PM checklists and standards
  • Drive predictive / condition-based maintenance (where applicable)

5. Spare Parts Management

  • Define and maintain critical spare parts list for key equipment
  • Ensure availability of adequate spare parts to support uptime
  • Optimize:
  • Spare part inventory levels
  • Usage tracking and consumption trends
  • Work with procurement and engineering to:
  • Reduce lead time risks
  • Standardize parts across equipment

6. OEE Improvement Projects

  • Lead and prioritize OEE improvement initiatives, focusing on:
  • Availability (downtime reduction)
  • Performance (cycle time, speed losses)
  • Quality (defect reduction)
  • Drive structured projects with:
  • Clear baseline, targets, and impact tracking
  • Ensure improvements are:
  • Measurable
  • Sustained across shifts

7. Project Management & Execution

  • Lead technical projects such as:
  • Machine upgrades / modifications
  • Automation enhancements
  • Process optimization initiatives
  • Define project scope, timeline, and deliverables
  • Track execution using Gantt charts and action plans
  • Ensure on-time delivery with measurable impact

8. Team Leadership & Capability Development

  • Lead and mentor technical teams
  • Build capability in:
  • Troubleshooting
  • Data analysis
  • Process control

9. Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Coordinate with Production, QA, Maintenance, Engineering, and Vendors
  • Drive alignment on:
  • Priorities
  • Issue resolution
  • Execution plans
  • Act as key escalation and decision-making point

10. Data-Driven Performance Management

  • Oversee tracking of:
  • OEE
  • Downtime (zone / station / category)
  • Yield trends
  • Identify top loss drivers and ensure focused action plans
  • Support BOS / management reporting

11. Standardization & Sustainability

  • Drive development of:
  • SOPs / Work Instructions
  • Control Plans
  • Best practices
  • Ensure processes are:
  • Standardized
  • Repeatable
  • Compliant with GMP / ISO

12. Continuous Improvement

  • Lead Kaizen and cost improvement initiatives
  • Drive long-term process robustness and efficiency
  • Support replication across other lines and future expansions

  • Line startup and ramp-up success
  • OEE improvement (Availability, Performance, Quality)
  • Downtime reduction & PM effectiveness
  • Spare parts availability vs downtime impact
  • First pass yield / defect reduction
  • RCA effectiveness (no recurrence)
  • Project delivery (on-time, measurable impact)

Role Expectation

  • Strong technical ownership of line reliability and performance
  • Balance:
  • Reactive (startup & troubleshooting)
  • Preventive (PM & spare strategy)
  • Proactive (OEE improvement projects)
  • High shopfloor engagement with strategic oversight

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Diploma or Degree in a relevant field.
  • Candidates with experience in machine manufacturing, fabrication, industrial engineering and maintenance, or automation equipment are preferred.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment such as pharmaceutical, medical devices, healthcare, or semiconductor industries, will be an added advantage.
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Experience in supporting automated production equipment.
