Key Responsibility
The Procurement Engineer is responsible for leading and executing sourcing and procurement activities for complex process automation projects, combining engineering knowledge with commercial expertise. The role is responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of technically compliant materials, equipment, and services, aligned with project specifications and quality standards. The Procurement Engineer will work closely with Project Execution, Sales, and Supply Chain teams to support large-scale project execution, mitigate technical risks, and ensure optimal supplier selection. In addition, the role will be part of the broader supply chain activities including planning, logistics coordination, and order fulfilment to ensure seamless end-to-end MRO and project delivery. In addition, the position drives continuous improvement initiatives, supports business growth, and ensures alignment of local project execution strategies with the overall objectives of the Endress+Hauser Group.
This role will be based in Singapore, is part of the Operation Excellence Department under the Project Execution Team and reports to the Project Manager.
The main tasks and responsibilities are
Key Responsibilities
Technical Sourcing & Procurement
- Lead end-to-end sourcing and purchasing activities for engineering projects involving instrumentation, control systems, and mechanical/electrical components.
- Interpret technical specifications, drawings, and project requirements to ensure accurate sourcing decisions.
- Evaluate suppliers from both technical and commercial perspectives, ensuring compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
Supplier Evaluation & Engineering Alignment
- Conduct technical assessments of suppliers to ensure capability to meet engineering specifications and project standards.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Project teams to clarify technical requirements and resolve specification gaps.
- Participate in technical discussions, clarifications, and bid evaluations for major procurement packages.
- Negotiate terms of contracts & conditions including pricing and delivery terms.
- Maintaining the supplier register and controls in line with our ISO 9000 requirements
- Ensuring compliance with project specifications, certifications, and industry standards.
Project-Based Procurement Execution
- Manage procurement for large and complex projects, ensuring alignment with project timelines and milestones.
- Manage key suppliers and potential suppliers to ensure smooth execution of the supply process from enquiry to delivery.
- Support value engineering initiatives by proposing technically viable and cost-effective alternatives.
- Identify and mitigate technical and supply risks, particularly for critical or long-lead items.
- Work closely with Supply Chain to align procurement activities with inventory availability and delivery schedules to ensure timely project execution
- Monitor order fulfilment status and proactively identify and resolve supply or delivery issues while maintaining visibility of order pipeline.
- Assist in coordination of inbound shipments, customs clearance, and delivery to project sites where required.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment across procurement, delivery schedules, and project requirements.
Cost Optimization
- Drive cost savings through value engineering, supplier consolidation, and total cost of ownership analysis.
- Negotiating competitive prices whilst ensuring committed quality
Risk Management
- Identify and mitigate procurement risks including supplier delays, logistics constraints, and inventory shortages.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all sourcing and procurement activities comply with internal policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate procurement documentation.
Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to process improvements in sourcing and purchasing workflows, supplier onboarding, and digital procurement tools.
- Support improvements in end-to-end supply chain processes, including planning, procurement, and logistics workflows.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform any other tasks required by the Company to support its business strategy.
Key Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related disciplines is preferred)
- 3–5 years of Engineering sourcing or procurement experience in industrial automation, instrumentation, or process industries.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and engineering documentation
- Exposure to supply chain operations such as planning, logistics, or order fulfilment will be an added advantage.
- Proven experience in project procurement (EPC / SI / automation projects preferred)
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Basic understanding of process instrumentation and automation—covering flow, level, pressure, temperature and analytical measurement technologies.
- Strong mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge.
- Strong knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems
- Excellent problem‑solving aptitude and a willingness to dive into customer challenges to deliver effective solutions.
