The Asia Quality Engineering Director is a dynamic, cross-functional leadership role responsible for developing and executing regional quality strategy aligned to global objectives—driving zero-defect performance and high-reliability outcomes across Process and Product Management -related value chains. Based in Singapore and reporting to global Quality leadership, this role leads multi-site teams and partners with Sales, Manufacturing, Product, and Supply Chain to meet demanding customer and corporate KPIs.
Primary Responsibilities
Strategic leadership: Develop and execute regional quality strategies aligned with global corporate objectives to achieve zero-defect, high-reliability standards for wafers and assembly; translate strategy into operating mechanisms, resourcing, and measurable outcomes.
Quality Management System (QMS): Lead quality assurance processes for regional plants, including qualification, change management, performance monitoring, audits, corrective action plans maintain, effective CAPA closure and continuously improve the QMS across Asia manufacturing sites to ensure readiness and adherence to the requirements.
Customer quality interface: Serve as the key quality liaison for strategic Asia customers; lead escalations for quality excursions and reliability failures, and drive robust corrective actions using six sigma,
8D, RCA, and cross-functional containment/prevention plans.
Continuous improvement: Champion a quality-first culture by driving Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives; strengthen process control and capability using data analytics to reduce defect density and improve customer satisfaction.
Team leadership: Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing regional Quality organization across multiple Asia locations; set clear expectations, develop successors, and build strong engagement and retention.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Experience: 12–15+ years of Quality experience in the semiconductor industry, including 10 + years in a senior leadership role.
Technical knowledge: working knowledge or experience of front-end (wafer fabrication) and/or back-end (assembly, packaging, test) processes/ ecosystem of customer qualification and change control expectations is strongly preferred.
Semiconductor quality toolkit: Expert-level application of 8D, RCA, CAPA/SCAR, FMEA, SPC/SQC, DOE, Six Sigma, and trend/statistical analysis to drive robust corrective and preventive action.
Problem-solving: Demonstrated ability to lead containment, failure analysis, root cause confirmation, and permanent fixes in time-sensitive, customer-facing situations.
Leadership: Strong cross-cultural leadership capability to lead teams across multiple Asia locations (e.g., Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, China, Korea and Japan) and influence outcomes through a matrixed organization.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or Materials Science; Master’s degree is highly desired.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written
English; proficiency in additional regional languages (including Mandarin) is a plus.
Location & travel: Based in
Singapore and willing to travel frequently within Asia and periodically to global headquarters/manufacturing support teams as needed.
