Job Summary
The Maintenance Engineer / Field Service Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, commissioning, and reliability improvement activities for plant equipment and facilities. The role requires hands-on technical expertise, strong planning and coordination skills, and the ability to manage contractors and vendors while ensuring high equipment availability and operational reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, supervise, and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and process equipment failures.
- Lead installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities for new and existing equipment.
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Manage maintenance contractors, service providers, and vendors to ensure safe and timely execution of work.
- Monitor and optimize spare parts inventory and maintenance budgets.
- Analyze equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment history, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Review and update P&IDs, maintenance procedures, and equipment documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company HSE requirements, Permit-to-Work systems, and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with Operations, Production, Logistics, HSE, and other stakeholders.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant performance and equipment reliability.
- Support emergency breakdown response and plant shutdown activities as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in maintenance, field service, plant operations, utilities, or industrial facilities.
- Proven experience managing maintenance activities in a manufacturing, process, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, utilities, or industrial plant environment.
- Hands-on experience in troubleshooting rotating equipment, pumps, motors, valves, piping systems, instrumentation, and process equipment.
- Experience with preventive maintenance planning, reliability improvement, and asset management.
- Familiarity with commissioning, start-up, and equipment installation activities.
- Experience managing contractors, vendors, and maintenance service providers.
- Strong understanding of Permit-to-Work (PTW), Risk Assessment, Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), and HSE requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
- Experience maintaining maintenance records and technical documentation in compliance with quality management systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Preferred Qualifications
- Supervisory experience leading maintenance technicians, contractors, or service teams.
- Experience in reliability-centred maintenance (RCM) and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Experience supporting plant shutdowns, turnarounds, or major maintenance campaigns.
