Senior Backup & Storage Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Backup & Storage Engineer to support enterprise backup, recovery, and storage infrastructure in a complex multi-platform environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for administration, maintenance, performance optimization, and disaster recovery operations for enterprise backup solutions and storage systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM/SPM) environments, including implementation, upgrades, migration, and troubleshooting.
• Manage enterprise backup and recovery operations using IBM Storage Protect, NetBackup, and Cohesity platforms.
• Perform disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution for critical business systems.
• Manage tape libraries, virtual tape libraries (VTL), and backup storage infrastructure
• Monitor backup performance, capacity utilization, and system health.
• Troubleshoot backup failures, database recovery issues, storage pool issues, and system performance concerns.
• Support SAN environments, including zoning and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Perform backup and restore activities for Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, and other enterprise applications.
• Develop and maintain operational procedures, automation scripts, and technical documentation.
• Work closely with infrastructure, application, and database teams to ensure backup and recovery compliance.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 12 years of hands-on experience in enterprise backup and storage administration.
• Minimum 8 years of experience administering IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) / IBM Storage Protect environments.
• Hands-on experience with NetBackup and Cohesity backup solutions.
• Strong experience in Disaster Recovery (DR), backup recovery testing, and business continuity operations.
• Experience supporting Tape Libraries, Virtual Tape Libraries (VTL), and enterprise storage environments.
• Experience working in large enterprise, banking, financial services, or managed services environments will be an advantage.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor's Degree or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Relevant IBM Storage Protect / Tivoli Storage Manager certifications will be an added advantage.

Preferred Certifications

• IBM Certified Administrator – Tivoli Storage Manager or equivalent.
• Veritas NetBackup Certification.
• Relevant backup, storage, or infrastructure certifications.
