Singapore Squash (SSRA) is the National Sports Association for the sport of squash in Singapore. We are seeking an experienced individual for the position of National Coach and join our team of elite coaching professionals. The National Coaching Team is responsible for a total of 60 national athletes, which includes 45 juniors, some of which are amongst the best in Asia. As a National Coach, you will work alongside the National Coaching Team, who come from a diverse background, in nurturing the athletes to reach greater heights.
You will be involved with the day-to-day training activities, be part of the coaching team in local and international competitions, be a leader within the Community of Practice initiatives and a key player in the success of the High Performance initiatives of the SSRA.
Roles and Responsibilities
HIGH PERFORMANCE
- Assist in developing and implementation of the High Performance Training Programme.
- Maintain and update meticulous records and files of individual athletes/teams with regular assessment of the athletes’ core capabilities, discipline, and development progress.
- Prepare analysis and reports of training and competition achievements of athletes against the Key Performance Indicators(KPI) set.
- Travel with athletes when required for training and tournaments to manage administration and provide coaching support.
- Ensure athletes maintain discipline, and adhere to the Athlete’s Agreement and Code of Conduct.
SPORT DEVELOPMENT
- Develop, conduct and supervise the community training programmes in consultation with the Events and Community Outreach teams, with the aim to increase pipeline development, grassroots and outreach programmes.
- Participate in marketing and outreach activities as and when required.
- Identify and talent scout high potential talents for recruitment into the High Performance Programme – from SSRA tournaments and other events around Singapore.
- Contribute to the success of Singapore Squash’s Community of Practice initiatives to bring together the coaching professionals within Singapore towards shared goals.
STAKEHOLDER AND RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
- Undertake all responsibilities with a clearunderstanding of the Multi-Year Sports Plan, SSRA objectives and the HeadCoach’s plans.
- Maintain a clear channel of communication with all athletesand parents.
- Build a strong relationship and maintain rapportwith all the schools and community coaches and clubs in Singapore.
- Assist with and attend SSRA organised events and tournaments as required.
- Attend and contribute at all SSRA meetings as required.
Skills,Qualifications and Personal Traits
- 2 years previous coaching experience with elite,national or state athletes preferred.
- Possess a coaching certification equivalent to the Asian Squash Federation (ASF) or World Squash Federation (WSF) Level 1.
- Former Professional Squash Association (PSA) athletes or other elite competition experience would be an advantage.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Should be self-motivated and driven individual who is result-oriented.
- Must be technologically savvy to a certain extent. Experience in, or have willingness to learn, the Microsoft Office suite and other relevant applications required for the job.
Please note that due to the nature of the work involved, individuals maybe required to work on weekends and evenings and may be required to travel. Considering this, there needs to be some flexibility in working hours and where applicable,individuals will be compensated with time off in-lieu.
Remuneration will commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience.
