About Child Protection Specialist Centre (CPSC):

We are dedicated to providing quality home-based services and support to families and children experiencing abuse or severe neglect at home. Referrals are received from the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) Child Protection Services to assist families and children identified as needing non-statutory services and support. Guided by a child-centred, family-focused, and community-based approach, our aim is to empower families to reach their fullest potential and provide ongoing support through life’s changes and challenges.

We are seeking an experienced Play Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team serving children and families impacted by abuse, trauma, attachment disruptions and family instability. The role involves providing therapeutic services to children aged 4 to 12 years, working collaboratively with parents and caregivers, and partnering closely with child protection caseworkers and other professionals.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with children affected by trauma, attachment difficulties and family instability.
  • Can formulate children's emotional, behavioural and psychological difficulties through multiple lenses, including trauma, attachment, child development, family systems and child psychopathology, and translate these formulations into purposeful interventions.
  • Is able to work flexibly across a range of therapeutic approaches and adapt interventions according to the child's developmental, emotional, relational and safety needs.
  • Demonstrates strong reflective capacity, clinical judgement and communication skills.
  • Works effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Is able to function well in a fast-paced child protection environment
  • Contributes actively to team learning, consultation and service development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide play therapy services to children aged 4 to 12 years.
  • Conduct assessments, case formulations and therapeutic interventions.
  • Conduct parent-child sessions and provide caregiver coaching and support.
  • Collaborate with caseworkers and multidisciplinary professionals
  • Participate in case reviews, consultations and team meetings.
  • Maintain timely and professional documentation and reports.
  • Participate in individual and group clinical supervision.
  • Contribute to the team's ongoing learning and development.

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Counselling, Degree in Counselling Psychology or a related discipline; candidates with a Degree in Social Work and relevant play therapy experience are also welcome to apply.
  • Certified Play Therapist preferred (applicants working towards certification could start as associates)
  • Minimum 200 hours of play therapy practice with children
  • At least 2 years' experience working with children and families in the social service sector.
  • Experience working with trauma, attachment concerns and children from unstable family environments will be an advantage.
