Human Resources Manager, Southeast Asia
The Human Resources Manager, Southeast Asia provides Tier 2 HR consultation and advisory support to leaders, managers and employees across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.
Based in Singapore, this role serves as the regional HR specialist for Southeast Asia, providing expert guidance across employee relations, performance management, local employment laws, HR operations, compliance, employee lifecycle matters, statutory requirements, policy interpretation, organizational health and employee engagement.
The role is responsible for delivering high-quality, compliant and timely HR support, while partnering with global Centres of Excellence and regional stakeholders to ensure consistent application of global and local HR policies. The successful candidate will bring strong hands-on HR experience, sound judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex, multinational environment. This role will also support regional initiatives including compensation consultation, reductions in force, leaves and accommodations, M&A integration, job profile consultation, local site leadership support, case management, knowledge management and process improvement.
About the Role
As Human Resources Manager, Southeast Asia , you will:
- Provide Tier 2 consultation to manager on people-related matters, including employee relations, local laws and employment frameworks, performance management, rewards and compensation, employee engagement and wellbeing, and hybrid ways of working.
- Drive performance enablement and behavior management process, including coaching, documentation, PIPs and outcomes.
- Conduct employee relations consultations and investigations, including conflict resolution and policy guidance.
- Enable cyclical performance activities, including goal setting, quarterly, midyear and end-of-year processes, through toolkits, training and office hours workshops; flag opportunities for automation.
- Deliver compensation consultation and analysis in partnership with Rewards; recommend automation for repeatable requests.
- Execute structure change processes, including coordinating legal review inputs, preparing conversation guides, supporting manager conversations and adhering to global guardrails.
- Provide leave and accommodation consultation in partnership with HR Compliance, ensuring a consistent interactive process and documentation.
- Deliver local M&A support in line with integration playbooks.
- Partner on engagement activities, including stay interviews, focus groups and open houses, and track actions.
- Advise on job profile consultation, including leveling, responsibilities and alignment with career architecture.
- Coordinate natural disaster support/actions and related communications.
- Maintain accurate case records, meet SLAs, contribute to knowledge articles and identify self-service/automation opportunities.
- Maintain deep knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices across Southeast Asia; ensure consistent application of global and regional policies and local statutory requirements.
- Manage HR operational activities for the region, including benefits administration, international assignments, relocation and work permits.
- Manage vendors and internal partners to deliver accurate and timely service.
- Use data and HR analytics, including AI-enabled insights where appropriate, to inform decisions, track outcomes and continuously improve HR processes and content quality.
- Use HR case management technology as a core delivery channel, ensuring timely case resolution, appropriate escalation and consistent service delivery.
- Work independently and/or closely with HR specialists to resolve queries arising directly from the business.
- Work with frontline leaders to ensure discipline management is implemented in accordance with local labor laws.
About You
As Human Resources Manager, Southeast Asia , you should possess:
- 5+ years of HR experience, with strong experience in employee relations, performance management, HR operations and regional HR support.
- Experience supporting multiple Southeast Asia markets, ideally including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.
- An understanding of local employment laws, leaves and accommodations frameworks, disciplinary processes and reduction-in-force practices.
- Experience operating in a complex, multinational and matrixed environment.
- Proven ability to manage sensitive employee matters with discretion, sound judgment and confidentiality.
- Strong documentation, case management and consultative skills.
- Proficiency with HR systems, case management tools and HR data/reporting.
- Experience participating in change, transformation or process improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Social Sciences or a related field.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational skills, flexibility and resilience in managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced and remote global environment.
Additional Skills and Knowledge required
- Practical expertise in employee relations consultations, investigations, performance coaching, performance improvement plans and disciplinary processes.
- Strong understanding of local labor laws and HR compliance requirements across Southeast Asia.
- Experience with compensation consultation, leaves and accommodations, reduction-in-force processes and manager coaching.
- Strong policy interpretation, documentation, facilitation and conflict management skills.
- Ability to use case management tools, SLAs, knowledge articles and HR reporting to deliver consistent service.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
- Familiarity with self-service resources, templates and automation opportunities.
- Ability to work independently and partner effectively with HR specialists, Legal, Compliance, Rewards and other Centres of Excellence.
