Engage and provide support for students with at-risk behaviours. This includes (but is not limited to):
- To engage and support a number of identified at-risk students during school (where appropriate) as well as after school hours.
- Support can include exploring their goals and strengths, building their problem-solving and decision-making skills, and helping them manage relational conflicts.
- Working in collaboration with our team of school counsellors and Special Educational Needs (SEN) officers to respond to meltdowns or incidents in class for identified students.
- To provide pre and post-counselling support/reflections for students undergoing disciplinary consequences.
- To support counselling team in providing triaging and basic counselling support for other students where necessary.
Strengthen ecosystem of support for identified at-risk students
- To engage and support parents of identified students with at-risk behaviours, supporting them on parenting matters (e.g. parent-child communication, managing their child’s behaviours, setting boundaries/routines);
- To connect parents of students with at-risk behaviours to relevant social agencies (e.g. FSC/FGO) where additional interventions are necessary. This may include working to shift mindsets of parents in seeking help and addressing their concerns.
- To curate parent workshops and reach out to specific parents to invite them. This would include partnering with the school’s Parents Support Group (PSG) to coordinate such workshops (Target: 1 workshop per term).
- To work in partnership with school staff, existing social agencies and/or medical professionals to bolster ecosystem of support for the identified students.
Work in close collaboration with the school’s Student Development Team and existing partners
- To provide fortnightly updates (using school’s documentation template) to Head of Department/SEN on support provided for identified students and their parents, as well as any follow-up needed for students with related counselling or SEN issues.
- To share updates on identified students at our fortnightly Case Management Team meetings.
- To provide Head of Department/SEN a report at the end of each semester.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Youth Worker supplied should possess a social work degree (or have equivalent experience/qualifications in youth work)
Skills & Experience:
- Shall be registered with Ministry of Education (REMS)
- Have at least 3 years of social work experience, possesses skills related to rapport building, effective interpersonal interactions, problem-solving and programme planning and implementation.
- Competent in working with parents, school staff, community and stakeholders.
- Competent in basic counselling with youths.
- In addition, Personnel with basic or advanced certifications in counselling and who are bilingual will be an advantage
Contract duration:
From 1 July 2026 to 31 December 2026 (Option Period: From January 2027 to December 2027)
Working Arrangement:
- 8 hours per day (excluding lunch) - approx. 2–3 working days per week
- Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays, and gazetted public holidays.
- For March, June, Sept and Nov-Dec school holidays, actual working days will be confirmed
- The exact working schedule will be confirmed by the school
- Will be notified at least 24 hours in advance if there is a need to report for work for additional ad-hoc sessions
Salary: $30 to $40 per hour (~$2,300 – $3,800 per month depending on deployment hours)
