Assistant Logistics Manager

We are looking for a hands-on Assistant Logistics Manager to oversee our logistics, warehousing and inventory operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the ground, leading teams, coordinating daily logistics activities, managing inventory accuracy and driving operational improvements in a fast-paced food production environment. You will work closely with Operations, Procurement and Customer Service teams to ensure efficient stock movement, timely order fulfilment and seamless delivery operations. Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Logistics & Warehouse Operations

  • Lead and oversee daily logistics and warehouse operations, ensuring efficient receiving, storage, inventory management, order fulfilment and dispatch activities.
  • Manage warehouse space utilization and storage optimization to maximize operational efficiency and maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure stock accuracy and compliance with FEFO/FIFO inventory management principles.
  • Oversee inventory control activities including stock receiving, stock issuance, cycle counts and stock reconciliation.
  • Coordinate with third-party warehouse providers on storage, inventory management and stock movements.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders on incoming shipments, container deliveries and import-related logistics activities.

Distribution& Transportation Management

  • Plan, coordinate and optimize daily delivery schedules and routes to ensure timely and cost-effective fulfilment of customer orders.
  • Manage third-party logistics providers, transport vendors and freelance drivers to achieve service level expectations.
  • Monitor logistics performance indicators including delivery performance, transportation costs, inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Support logistics cost analysis and resource planning to achieve departmental objectives.

Process Improvement & Reporting

  • Develop, review and implement logistics processes, SOPs and continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, accuracy and service levels.
  • Investigate operational issues, identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Prepare logistics and operational reports, providing recommendations to management on cost reduction, efficiency improvement and operational effectiveness.
  • Participate in business improvement projects, system enhancements and operational initiatives as assigned by management.

Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate closely with Production, Procurement, Customer Service and other internal departments to ensure smooth end-to-end operational flow.
  • Liaise with external vendors, warehouse operators, freight forwarders and service providers to support daily operations.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, supervise, coach and develop logistics personnel.
  • Conduct manpower planning, performance management, employee training and capability development.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement within the logistics team.

Facilities, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety, food safety and company policies within warehouse and logistics operations.
  • Coordinate workplace safety initiatives, including fire drills and liaison with relevant authorities and service providers.
  • Coordinate inspection, servicing and maintenance of fire protection equipment, including fire extinguishers.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and repair activities for cold room facilities to ensure operational reliability and product integrity.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics, warehousing, transportation, supply chain operations or a manufacturing environment (FMCG or food industry experience preferred).
  • At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management and FEFO/FIFO inventory control principles.
  • Experience managing delivery operations, freight forwarders, third-party logistics providers (3PL) and container shipments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office ,particularly Excel, and logistics, warehouse or inventory management systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication,stakeholder management, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with workplace safety, food safety and operational compliance requirements will be an advantage.
  • Hands-on, proactive and able to thrive in a fast-paced operational environment.
