Mechanical Engineer – Construction Industry

Role Overview

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining mechanical systems within construction projects. This role ensures that all mechanical components — such as HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems — meet safety, efficiency, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical Design: Develop detailed mechanical layouts, schematics, and load calculations for building systems.

  • HVAC System Planning: Design and oversee heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.

  • Plumbing & Piping: Plan and supervise installation of water supply, drainage, and gas piping systems.

  • Fire Protection Systems: Design and coordinate fire suppression and safety systems according to building codes.

  • Installation Supervision: Monitor on-site installation and commissioning of mechanical equipment and systems.

  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to mechanical codes, workplace safety, and environmental regulations.

  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with electrical, civil, and architectural teams to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare technical reports, drawings, and progress updates for management and clients.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

  • Strong knowledge of construction mechanical systems and building codes.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other mechanical design software.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
