The InternationalProgrammes team is the heartbeat of Mercy Relief that develops, plans and delivers humanitarian intervention to communities affected by disasters through immediate disaster relief efforts and thoughtful disaster recovery programmes and projects.
We are seeking individuals that derives joy in creating and multiplying impact to uplift disaster-affected communities in the areas of water, sanitation and hygiene(WASH), shelter, healthcare, education and livelihoods.
Key to the role is strong analytical and systems thinking with a clear understanding of the organisation’s mission and vision, and an action-oriented bias to translate concepts into tangible outcomes in collaboration with our international partners.
Desired outcomes of the role:
Programme development and project implementation (~60%)
- Planning, implementing and managing the delivery of relief missions and longer term disaster recovery projects in collaboration with Mercy Relief’s international network of partners.
- Monitoring, evaluating and auditing the efficacy of Mercy Relief’s humanitarian interventions.
- Collecting, analysing and communicating the methods and outcomes of Mercy Relief’s humanitarian interventions to internal and external stakeholders.
- Researching and analysing humanitarian, international development and technological trends to develop robust humanitarian programmes aligned to Mercy Relief’s mission, vision and strategy.
Disaster incident monitoring and analysis (~ 25% )
- Leveraging technology and Mercy Relief’s international network of partners to monitor, identify and assess emerging humanitarian and disaster occurrences of interest.
- Developing action plans for interventions to provide relief to disaster-affected communities.
- Liaising with various internal and external stakeholders to coordinate immediate disaster relief efforts.
- Analysing long- and short-term humanitarian and disaster-related trends to steer Mercy Relief’s longer term strategic planning and resource development roadmaps.
Developing partnerships with stakeholders (~ 10%)
- Developing and executing actionable strategies to engage various stakeholders (e.g. government agencies, NGOs, interest groups, individuals etc.) for tangible collaborations to multiply Mercy Relief’s efforts to uplift disaster-affected communities.
- Deepening relationships with Mercy Relief’s partners for recurring collaborations that maximises value created for disaster-affected communities.
- Positioning Mercy Relief as a key global platform to convene partnerships for humanitarian and disaster relief efforts.
Cross-functional projects and exposure to other aspects of MR's work(~5%)
- Where need and opportunities arise, collaborate with other functions to realise meaningful initiatives and programmes that contribute wholistically to MR's organisational development and impact.
Desired qualifications and traits:
- Preferably 1-3 years in roles driving similar project management outcomes with demonstrable results, preferably (but not mandatorily) in the non-profit, international development and/or humanitarian sector. Fresh graduates with a strong academic, extra-curricular or internship track record would also be considered for this position. (Note: Salary, designation and benefits will be commensurate with experience, qualifications and potential.)
- A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, sciences, social sciences (e.g. political science, sociology, economics, psychology, geography etc.), business administration, communications, computer/data sciences or other inter-disciplinary fields of study. A relevant Master's degree is advantageous.
- Strong organisational, time management and stakeholder management skills.
- Analytical and critical thinking ability, with a data-driven and evidence-based approach towards problem-solving.
- Strong sense of stewardship to maximise and multiply organisational and donor resources.
- Growth mind-set underpinned by passion and curiosity about how public communications, partnerships and stakeholder engagement can enable stronger organisational performance and delivery of humanitarian and disaster relief outcomes.
Desire and willingness to learn and grow alongside likeminded individuals, Mercy Relief and humanitarian actors inSingapore (and beyond!).
