What this job involves

We are seeking an experienced Senior Facilities Technician / Assistant Facilities Operations Engineer to join our dynamic facilities management team. In this role, you'll be the technical backbone of our building operations, combining hands-on expertise with strategic project management to ensure optimal performance across all facility systems. You'll oversee critical building infrastructure, lead improvement projects, and ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations. What your day-to-day will look like

Oversee daily building operations by monitoring and maintaining critical systems including HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, fire protection, building automation systems (BAS/BMS), and emergency power generation to ensure optimal performance and occupant comfort

Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, diagnosing equipment failures, troubleshooting malfunctions, and maintaining accurate records in computerized maintenance management systems (Corrigo)

Manage facility improvement projects from initiation to completion, developing project scopes and specifications, coordinating with contractors and stakeholders, monitoring progress, and preparing comprehensive documentation including progress reports and closeout packages

Ensure HSE compliance by implementing safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, investigating incidents, maintaining required permits and documentation, coordinating emergency response procedures, and liaising with regulatory authorities during inspections

Support energy management and sustainability initiatives by monitoring consumption patterns, implementing conservation measures, tracking utility costs, and recommending upgrades to improve building performance and reduce environmental impact

Provide technical expertise and rapid problem resolution to building occupants and management, responding to urgent maintenance requests and emergencies while analyzing recurring issues to implement permanent solutions

Manage vendor relationships and contracts including performance monitoring, procurement processes, budget development and tracking, and ensuring all services comply with organizational policies and financial objectives

Required Qualifications: 5-10 years of progressive experience in facilities operations, building maintenance, or facilities engineering with demonstrated hands-on expertise in commercial building systems

Technical certificate or Diploma in Engineering, Building Services, Facilities Management, or related technical field

Proven project management experience including planning, budgeting, and executing facility projects ranging from minor improvements to major capital initiatives

Strong working knowledge of MEP systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, building automation, and energy management systems

Comprehensive knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and HSE requirements with demonstrated experience ensuring compliance in operational environments

Proficiency in reading technical drawings, schematics, and specifications, combined with competency in Microsoft Office Suite and facilities management software (Corrigo)

Physical capability to perform tasks including climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, lifting equipment, and availability for occasional after-hours emergency response and on-call rotation

Preferred Qualifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Facilities Management Professional (FMP), Building Operator Certification (BOC), or specialized certifications in HVAC, electrical systems, building automation, or energy management

Experience in specialized facility types such as large commercial office buildings, corporate campuses, multi-tenant properties, healthcare facilities, laboratories, or data centers

Knowledge of sustainable building practices and green building certifications (LEED, BREEAM) with familiarity of local utility programs and energy incentives

Experience with integrated workplace management systems (IWMS) and advanced building automation technologies

Professional membership in organizations such as IFMA, BOMA, or ASHRAE demonstrating commitment to ongoing professional development
