Business Development Executive (Payments/Merchant Acquiring)

Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated Business Development Executive with 2-4 years of experience in the payments (digital/online/offline) services industry to support merchant acquisition and business growth. This role focuses on identifying new merchant opportunities, supporting partnership development and client lifecycle management, and expanding payment acceptance solutions across multiple channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support end-to-end merchant acquisition activities through prospecting and lead generation, delivering product/service pitches to potential clients, and supporting onboarding coordination.
  • Build and sustain strong professional relationships with merchants, Payment Service Providers (PSPs), banks, aggregators, and payment partners to enhance collaboration and business growth.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across diverse payment channels, including POS, QR payments, online/offline payments, e-commerce, and alternative payment methods to drive revenue.
  • Consistently achieve and surpass targets related to revenue, transaction volume, and merchant acquisition to contribute to company objectives.
  • Prepare detailed sales proposals, develop pricing models, and support the negotiation of commercial agreements to secure profitable deals.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams such as Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Product to ensure seamless merchant onboarding and provide ongoing client lifecycle support.
  • Monitor and report sales activities, pipeline progression, and performance metrics to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Participate in market research and analyse competitor offerings and pricing strategies to strengthen YeahPay's market positioning.
  • Support strategic initiatives, including the introduction of new payment channels, cross-border acquiring, and other value-added services.

Requirements

  • Strong in building client relations, communication, presentation, and negotiation, demonstrated by engaging merchants and partners professionally.
  • Basic understanding of payment solutions such as acquiring models and fee structures, including Merchant Discount Rate (MDR), interchange, and scheme fees.
  • Possess knowledge of POS, QR, e-commerce, and omnichannel payment solutions.
  • Familiar with card schemes and alternative payment methods.
  • Self-motivated, target-oriented, has high learning agility, ability to work collaboratively and progressively takes independent ownership of assigned accounts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in the payments, fintech, or B2B sales.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Prior experience supporting SME or mid-market merchants.
