Job Description

Aquila Nova is looking for a Field Service Technician / Customer Success Engineer to support marine and offshore automation systems.

In this role, you will work hands-on with PLC, HMI, and control systems installed on vessels and offshore platforms. Your main responsibilities include installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining automation systems, as well as supporting customers to ensure systems run reliably.

You will also be involved in:

  • Diagnosing and fixing faults in PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
  • Performing system backups, data extraction, and restoration
  • Supporting tank gauging and marine control systems
  • Assisting with system upgrades, retrofits, and commissioning projects
  • Configuring and troubleshooting industrial networks and communication protocols
  • Providing on-site and remote technical support to customers

This role includes a customer success function, where you will work closely with clients to:

  • Ensure system uptime and performance
  • Provide basic user training and technical guidance
  • Support long-term system improvements

You will travel to shipyards, vessels, and offshore sites for project work and service assignments.

Training will be provided, especially for Beijer Electronics systems (Nexto PLC, iX HMI, M-Series).

Requirements

Education

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or Marine Engineering

Technical Skills

You should have a basic foundation in:

  • PLC programming (Ladder Logic and/or Structured Text)
  • Industrial automation or control systems
  • HMI / SCADA systems
  • Troubleshooting and fault diagnosis

Familiarity with the following is a plus:

  • Industrial communication protocols (e.g. Modbus, Ethernet-based networks)
  • Basic networking and IT/OT concepts

Experience with Beijer systems is not required (training provided)

Experience

  • 1–3 years in automation, controls, or marine systems preferred
  • Fresh graduates with relevant skills and interest are welcome

Other Requirements

  • Willingness to travel frequently (including overseas and offshore work)
  • Comfortable working in hands-on, field service environments
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting mindset
  • Good communication skills for interacting with customers
