Optical Network Engineer (Perm | L2/3 Networking |Digital Inventory)

You will support the planning and operational health of our optical transport network by analyzing network capacity and utilization, maintaining accurate digital inventory and circuit routing records, and producing monthly utilization reports.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Study and analyze network capacity utilization to support planning and optimization of optical/transport network changes.

2. Generate monthly utilization reports using the digital inventory system and provide recommendations for improvement.

3. Ensure inventory records are up to date, including network assets and circuit routing details.

4. Support restoration activities during outages by planning restoration using available capacity within agreed SLA targets.

5. Document network designs, configurations, and topology diagrams for ongoing processes and reference.

6. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners/vendors for capacity requests, new orders, and implementation support.

Requirements:

• Diploma in Engineering/Telecommunications (or relevant field).

• Telecom experience with focus on transport network, optical transmission and Ethernet technologies.

• Good understanding of transport network architectures including OTN and Ethernet, and DWDM.

• Knowledge of L2/L3 networking, TCP/IP, IP addressing, and routing protocols.

• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred / Additional (if available):

• Experience maintaining inventory/circuit records in a digital inventory system.

• Experience with network restoration support and standby coverage during assigned weeks.

• Familiarity with networking hardware from major vendors.
