Synthesis Chemist

In this role, you will be part of the synthesis team performing organic syntheses to support research activities in Chemical, Toxin, Radiological, Nuclear Programme under Human System Division. This can include develop synthesis methodologies for research chemicals, perform spectroscopic analysis and characterization studies of chemicals as well as participate in regulatory declaration activities. The job involves close teamwork with colleagues in interdisciplinary project teams and you must have the ability to work individually and as a team player.

  • Degree /Masters in Chemistry
  • Experience in Organic synthesis. Experience with synthesis involving organophosphorus, sulfur and nitrogen compounds will be an added advantage
  • Basic interpretation of NMR and Mass Spectra. Knowledge and experience in the operation of analytical instruments e.g., NMR, GCMS, LCMS is preferred
  • Strong background in organic and inorganic chemistry
  • Good initiative, self-motivated, meticulous and have good communication skills
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team
  • Willing to work with toxic chemicals
