The Role

Russell Reynolds Associates is looking for a commercial strategy and insights lead individual who is passionate about helping shape the future leadership strategy. This individual will partner to develop a world class, insight-led business development capability. The candidate will work with a team of global executives to support our client-facing teams across the business development lifecycle.

The candidate will collaborate with consultants to generate unique perspectives on an exciting and rapidly developing sector landscape and drive an insight-led approach to business development by defining how our solutions can address the leadership challenges and opportunities faced by our clients.

The role requires an individual who has a commercial mindset, is equal part analytical and strategic and is comfortable interacting confidently at senior leadership and c-suite levels. We are seeking a Commercial Strategy & Insights (CS&I) Consultant who can operate in a multi-faceted, fast-paced professional services environment.

This role is a member of the global CS&I function. The RRA global CS&I function contributes to business development by driving the creation of new insights and perspectives and maintaining the firm’s knowledge assets. By aggregating and analyzing the collective experience of our consultants and conducting market research we position our consultants to effectively advise current and prospective clients.

Day-to-day Activities:

Commercial strategy and business development

  • Design and execute proactive business development initiatives across key functions and themes
  • Own the development of high impact pitches and global go-to-market activities in partnership with sector colleagues
  • Identify white space and develop a strategic selling approach to engaging with clients around their needs
  • Proactively track and inform key internal partners about relevant industry, market, company, or talent developments
  • Monitor and report on performance in order to guide ongoing execution of go-to-market strategy
  • Develop and implement a structured approach to account management applying appropriate frameworks and models

Insights

  • Design and build data assets from which we can draw insights to better inform critical talent decisions
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis to create and develop core differentiated go-to-market materials that address evolving industry themes and provide proprietary insight and perspective
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the development of flagship publications
  • Partner with colleagues in CS&I and Marketing to deliver integrated B2B marketing campaigns, including the build of a highly engaged external talent community

Operations

  • Collaborate with colleagues across functions to enhance internal systems, tools, and processes for sector activities, with an emphasis on standardization, automation, integration, and scaling
  • Help to improve data quality and consistency to support a wide range of use cases
  • Analyze and report on global and regional business performance across multiple dimensions
  • Drive internal communications and support training to raise awareness of go-to-market initiatives, activities, resources, methodologies, and insight

Candidate Profile

Candidates are evaluated on their ability to act in an advisory capacity to internal clients, pursuit of excellence, and mental agility to quickly analyze and understand a broad range of business issues. The role requires an individual who is intellectually astute, has an analytical mindset, and is comfortable interacting confidently at senior levels. Candidates are expected to have good business acumen, strong communication skills, critical thinking skills, and the ability to influence at different levels within the organization.

Required Experience:

  • 6+ years of relevant full-time professional experience at a professional services firm, preferably in an international setting
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
  • Master’s degree in relevant field preferred
  • Strong conceptual and analytical capabilities; able to understand clients’ strategic needs
  • Working with commercial teams to set and execute go-to-market strategy
  • Proven experience in the creation of go-to-market materials and productization
  • Polished written communication and presentation skills, with the demonstrated ability to produce relevant and client-ready documentation in multiple formats
  • Excellent oral communication skills, including the ability to state ideas clearly and concisely
  • Effective time, project, and stakeholder management skills to deliver multiple tasks concurrently in a highly matrixed, fast-moving environment
  • Action-oriented and collaborative approach to problem-solving, with superior logical reasoning capabilities
  • Prior experience conducting primary and/or secondary qualitative and quantitative research, including the ability to distill high volumes of information into key ideas and compelling insights
  • Strong quantitative skills, including the ability to analyze large data sets and identify trends
  • Synthesizing data-driven insights to develop thought leadership, white papers, or event materials
