Application Engineer (Testing)

Primary Purpose

The Application Engineer (Testing) is responsible to conduct the testing of software/applications to ensure they function accordingly to specifications and clients' requirements to meet the business needs. Conducts testing using preferred organizational practices & established processes contained in the Test Methodology to ensure test objective of the project is met.

Responsibilities

Project Delivery

· Understand and analyze testing requirements based on the test plan and test design

· Enhance test plan by providing additional test cases to the test plan whenever necessary

· Provide feedback to project team on design consideration to facilitate meeting of requirements.

· Provide feedback business analysts and/or customers on the testing requirements and test techniques

· Prepare and ensure readiness of test bed and test environment to carry out the test execution

· Execute test in accordance to the test plan. Take screenshots on the test results.

· Analyze test results and work with respective teams to resolve issues such as defect open and resolution rate, bottlenecks in performance and other defects

· Prepare test report for submission

· Provide regular test results updates

· Recommend and use automated testing tools where appropriate

· Manage test activities and ensure the planned test activities are completed as scheduled

· Assist in the integration testing, system testing, User Acceptance Test (UAT) &implementation activities to fix the reported problems/bugs of the system to ensure the smooth execution of programs in the production environment

· Investigate all reported problems/errors & initiate amendments & testing so that the system can operate correctly & efficiently

Teamwork

· Adopt test standards and testing methodology

· Create awareness; conduct training on test techniques, assists in implementation of test standards, consistent methodology, best practices and principles.

· Participate in peer reviews to improve project quality

Requirement

· Possess some J2EE programming knowledge will be ideal. Typically 1 or more years’ experience with substantial project work in software development. No working experience will also be considered.

· Possess initiative and disposition with a strong commitment and orientation towards results and high quality standards

· Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think out of the box

· Self-motivator with a positive attitude and with high energy

· Customer focused

· Diploma/ Degree in Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Information Technology related field, or IT equivalent will be ideal.
