Job Summary

The After-School Care Teacher is responsible for the holistic care, supervision, and learning support of children enrolled in the centre's after-school programme. This includes guiding students with their homework, attending to their physical and emotional well-being, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and supporting day-to-day administrative and operational tasks such as student pick-up coordination and meal preparation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Homework Guidance & Academic Support

  • Supervise and guide students in completing their school homework and assignments
  • Provide age-appropriate explanations and support across subjects (e.g. English, Mathematics, Mother Tongue)
  • Liaise with parents/guardians on academic progress or concerns where necessary
  • Encourage independent learning habits, time management, and a positive attitude towards schoolwork

2. Student Well-Being & Care

  • Supervise children's daily activities, ensuring their safety at all times
  • Monitor and attend to children's physical, emotional, and social well-being
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to signs of distress, illness, injury, or behavioural concerns
  • Administer basic first aid when required and escalate to the Centre Director as needed
  • Foster a nurturing, inclusive, respectful and supportive environment for all children
  • Build positive relationships with children and communicate professionally with parents/guardians

3. Premises & Environment Management

Ensure the cleanliness, tidiness, and safety of the classroom, play areas, and common spaces

  • Conduct routine checks to ensure the premises meet hygiene and safety standards
  • Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or safety concerns to the Centre Director promptly
  • Organise and maintain learning materials, toys, and equipment

4. Administrative & Operational Duties

  • Coordinate and manage student pick-up and drop-off procedures, including liaison with parents, guardians, or school transport providers
  • Take attendance and maintain accurate records of children present, absent, or collected
  • Assist with the preparation and serving of children's meals/snacks, ensuring adherence to food safety and hygiene guidelines
  • Support inventory checks for classroom and food supplies, and flag re-stocking needs
  • Complete other administrative duties as assigned (e.g. incident reports, daily logs, parent communication records)
