Nursing Aide

The jobholder supports and assists the RN/ENs in the delivery of care to patients in the nursing home in accordance to established policies and procedures, standards of nursing care and practices

Job Description

• Complies with approved standards of nursing practices
• Participates in activities to improve quality of care
• Attends to the needs of the patients
• Reports patient’s needs to the nurse in charge
• Ensures the safety, comfort and well-being of the patients
• Ensures good personal hygiene of the patients under his/her care
• Checks, monitors and records vital signs taken and to report to nurse in charge any abnormal readings
• Assists in the transfer and positioning of non-ambulant patients
• Assists the RN in ensuring patients take their medications
• Serves meals and feeds the patients
• Assists the nurse in the care for patient with urinary catheter
• Assists in admission and orientation of new patients
• Maintains accurate documentation of care given
• Accompanies patients to the hospital/polyclinic for follow-up appointments and outing trips
• Maintains a safe and clean environment for the nursing home
• Performs rehabilitation activities such as motion exercise and walking with patients
• Organizes and sends patient for appropriate therapy as prescribed, example occupational therapy
• Escalates to nurses any emergency situations; where necessary take first responder actions to mitigate the emergency
• Supports in clinical service projects and infection control campaign activities
• Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

• Min Nitec in Nursing.
• Good communication skills with a strong passion to work with the elderly.
• Able to work 12 hours rotating shifts.
