Petroleum Products Trader

SALLING SEARCH PTE. LTD.

Salling Search is currently recruiting for a Petroleum Products Trader for a leading Philippine fuel retail and petroleum distribution company with a nationwide network of service stations and distribution infrastructure. The company holds a strategic partnership with Saudi Aramco and is expanding its commercial trading capabilities through a dedicated trading desk based in Singapore.

Responsibilities

  • Source, negotiate, and execute the purchase of petroleum products (gasoil, mogas/gasoline, and asphalt) from foreign suppliers in Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region, on both term and spot basis
  • Manage cargo nominations, shipping schedules, and the full transaction lifecycle from deal execution through to delivery coordination
  • Coordinate with the company's strategic partner, Saudi Aramco, on supply agreements, pricing terms, and commercial arrangements
  • Monitor and analyse MOPS, Platts, and Argus pricing benchmarks, providing timely recommendations on procurement timing, pricing strategy, and market positioning
  • Build and maintain working relationships with refineries, NOCs, IOCs, and independent trading houses across the Singapore hub and wider region
  • Liaise with internal logistics, finance, and operations teams to ensure seamless cargo execution, documentation, and payment processing
  • Track supply-demand dynamics, regional refinery run rates, freight markets, and geopolitical developments that may impact pricing or product availability
  • Expand commercial coverage into additional product lines — including lubricant base oils, bitumen, and other refined products — as the trading desk grows

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in petroleum products trading in Singapore or the broader Asia-Pacific region
  • Direct trading experience in gasoil, mogas/gasoline, and/or asphalt, with strong working knowledge of MOPS, Platts, and Argus pricing benchmarks
  • Established network of refinery, NOC, IOC, and trading house contacts in Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating and executing deals with major trading houses, national oil companies, or integrated oil companies
  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and the ability to operate with speed and precision in a fast-moving market environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to produce clear market reports and internal briefings for senior leadership
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related field

Preferred

  • Experience with bitumen, lubricant base oils, or other speciality refined products
  • Familiarity with Philippine petroleum import regulations and DOE pricing frameworks
  • Prior exposure to building or growing a trading desk from an early stage
