The story
DomainTools has spent years building something genuinely niche in cybersecurity: a platform that shines a spotlight outside the firewall. Their focus is internet infrastructure intelligence, specifically domains, DNS, & IP addresses, & the way that external picture connects back to what is happening inside an organisation. When a single external data point would otherwise just be a lone signal, DomainTools turns it into a full picture that helps security teams understand what is good, what is bad, & how to act faster.
They are not a startup. Their customer base includes governments, militaries, law enforcement bodies, intelligence agencies, national cybersecurity centres, & almost every Fortune 50 company. Some of those customers cannot be named publicly, which tells you something about the calibre of the work. They are well established & well credentialed, particularly in the US & Europe, but their APMA footprint is still early days, & that is exactly why they are hiring now.
The role
As an SE at DomainTools, your focus is dual: building new relationships by working alongside the AE across the full pre-sales cycle, and championing adoption and onboarding with existing customers. You will be the primary technical resource across all engagements in APMA, supporting discovery, demonstrations, and POC work, as well as leading training and onboarding sessions that help customers get real value out of the product. When complex technical issues arise, you will triage and work cross-functionally with product and engineering to drive resolution.
This is the first SE hire in the region, which means real ownership over how DomainTools shows up technically across Asia and the Middle East. You will work across both new logo activity and expansion within existing accounts in Japan, Australia, and Singapore, while helping develop newer pipeline coming from Vietnam, Indonesia, and broader Southeast Asia. The customer mix is broad: government and defence organisations, national cybersecurity bodies, and major enterprise accounts sitting alongside mid-market opportunities that move faster and close more frequently. You will need to be comfortable shifting between both, a lengthy enterprise or government evaluation one week and a quicker mid-market engagement the next. Matching the conversation and the pace of the room is a core part of this job.
Beyond the deal cycle, you will develop demo material and sales content built for the region. Over time, you will become the technical foundation that accounts rely on, not just at the point of sale but through onboarding, adoption, and long-term growth, and potentially the anchor for a growing regional SE team as the business expands in APMA.
About you
You are an experienced Solutions Engineer who has built a career in customer-facing technical roles, ideally within the cybersecurity or broader technology vendor space. You know how to run a pre-sales process, earn trust with technical buyers, and stay valuable to an account long after the deal closes. You are comfortable with ambiguity, self-directed, and energised by the idea of building something in a region rather than inheriting a mature patch.
Cybersecurity experience is preferred, but not a hard requirement. What matters is that you have a solid grounding in internet infrastructure concepts, domains, DNS, IP addresses, and networking, and the curiosity to go deep on the threat intelligence layer that sits on top of it. Strong SE capability will always outweigh narrow technical specialisation here. Experience with channel or partner-led sales in Southeast Asia is a genuine advantage.
Please note: this role cannot support employment passes; you must be PR or Citizen.
What is in it for you
- This is a chance to join a business with real substance behind it & serious customers to prove it, while still stepping into a role where you are genuinely building something. The US & European teams are established. APMA is where the growth story is being written now.
- You will have full ownership of the customer journey from first conversation through long-term success.
- You will work alongside a strong, proactive AE & a newly built local team. You will have access to some of the most interesting conversations in cybersecurity, the kind you will not be able to talk about at dinner.
- The onboarding is three months with defined milestones, a dedicated mentor, full involvement from the global SE team, & no customer responsibility until day 91.
- Variable comp is group-based, so you benefit from the broader team's performance while you are ramping, with accelerators & no ceiling on upside once the group hits its number.
- Longer term, the plan is to build a regional SE team in APMA around this person as the footprint grows. The first hire in a region that is just getting started.
