Role Overview

The Commissioning Engineer is responsible for executing and leading commissioning activities for Industrial Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP), Municipal Sewage Treatment Plants (STP), and Water Treatment Plants (UPW/Desalination). The role covers the full commissioning lifecycle—from pre-commissioning to handover—ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery.

Responsibilities

Commissioning Activities

Execute and lead all stages of commissioning:

  • Pre-Commissioning

  • Wet Commissioning

  • Process Commissioning

  • Performance Testing

  • Documentation and Client Handover

  • Post-Commissioning Support

  • Troubleshooting

Engineering & Documentation

  • Review P&IDs, PFDs, Mass Balances, Design Basis Reports, Control Philosophy, and Cause & Effect Matrices.

  • Work closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Control teams to ensure installations meet design intent.

  • Prepare and review:

  • Commissioning Plans

  • Checklists

  • Procedures

  • Performance Test Procedures and Reports

  • SOPs

  • O&M Manuals

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.

  • Manage commissioning punch lists.

Technical Support & Troubleshooting

  • Conduct data analysis to diagnose equipment and process issues.

  • Identify defects in design, installation, and functionality of equipment, piping, instruments, and controls.

  • Provide technical feedback and ensure closure of identified issues.

  • Support Site Acceptance Tests and Performance Testing with client endorsement.

Project Support

  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure smooth project execution and closure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Biochemical Engineering. Other qualifications may be considered based on relevant experience.

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on field experience in commissioning of water and wastewater treatment systems.

  • Strong proficiency in Mandarin (both written and spoken) is preferred as the role would support China and Taiwan in addition to other project sites globally.

  • Proven experience in execution of overseas projects is highly preferred.

  • Ability to travel to project sites locally and globally (up to 50% travel) when required.
