Discipline Support Officer (DSO)

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Campus Supervision & Discipline Prevention

  • Provide a visible, reassuring adult presence by conducting systematic patrols in high-movement areas during recess, lunch breaks, and lesson transitions.

  • Maintain active supervisory presence in the school canteen and Multi-Purpose Hall during daily recess periods.

  • Support proactive discipline strategies and facilitate simple peer reconciliation or mediation where appropriate.

2. Monitoring & In-House Suspension Support

  • Record and monitor latecomers arriving after 7:30 AM and manage the associated data.

  • Maintain a structured, quiet environment for suspended students to ensure learning continuity during their in-house suspension.

  • Guide students through structured reflective activities and assist in their smooth transition back into the classroom.

3. Investigative & Case Support

  • Conduct preliminary fact-finding investigations and interviews regarding disciplinary incidents.

  • Obtain accurate student and witness statements safely and appropriately.

  • Compile evidence and prepare structured incident reports for submission to Key Personnel for further directions.

4. Data Management & Administration

  • Collate, organize, and update discipline-related documentation, including latecoming records, statements, and incident metrics using Excel spreadsheets.

Requirements: Skills & Experience

Background & Experience

  • Uniformed Services: Ideally possesses a background in a uniformed service (e.g., Singapore Police Force, Singapore Prison Service, or equivalent).

  • Track Record: Minimum of 3 years of experience involving youth-related case investigation, behavioral support, and restorative work.

Core Competencies

  • Behavioral Intervention: Demonstrated competency in conflict management, de-escalation techniques, and calm, proportionate behavioral intervention.

  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage constructively with young students, parents, and school staff.

  • Administrative Accuracy: Solid proficiency in incident observation, formal report documentation, and basic data entry (specifically managing Microsoft Excel spreadsheets).
