Everest APAC continues its rapid expansion in terms of geographic and product scale and scope. We are excited to offer this opportunity to help grow our Financial Lines franchise from our Singapore base. As we execute on an ambitious growth trajectory across Asia, this role will play a critical part in shaping our Wholesale and Facultative Financial Lines strategy, strengthening broker and client engagement, and building a profitable, sustainable portfolio across the region.
The role will suit an individual with strong underwriting experience across one or more Financial Lines classes, including Directors & Officers Liability, Professional Indemnity, Financial Institutions, Crime and Cyber, with direct exposure to Wholesale & Facultative placements and complex risk assessment in APAC markets. They should demonstrate strong technical judgment, underwriting discipline and commercial acumen, supported by the broader Everest network and leadership team.
This is an important role within the APAC leadership team as we continue to deploy capacity thoughtfully, deliver market-leading responsiveness and offer tailored Wholesale and Facultative Financial Lines solutions to clients and broking partners across the region.
Role Purpose
Leadership of a small team of junior underwriters and assistant underwriters.
Responsibility for the profitable development and growth of the APAC Wholesale and Facultative Financial Lines portfolio.
Help set and execute strategic direction across Asia, balancing disciplined risk selection, portfolio management and business growth within agreed profitability parameters.
Drive underwriting excellence through sound pricing, clear wording, effective negotiation and strong governance across complex wholesale and facultative placements.
Build and deepen broker and client relationships across the region, creating a market-facing presence that supports sustainable portfolio expansion.
Identify opportunities to leverage data, analytics and technology within the underwriting process to improve risk selection, responsiveness and operating efficiency.
Key Accountabilities
Input into and accountability for the strategic direction, oversight and performance of the APAC Wholesale and Facultative Financial Lines portfolio.
Underwrite and manage new and renewal wholesale & facultative business in line with underwriting authorities, portfolio objectives and regional growth plans.
Analyse complex risks and determine technical pricing, structure, terms, conditions and capacity deployment across Financial Lines classes.
Develop and manage a portfolio of business, including underwriting, pricing, wording development, broker engagement and client servicing, while maintaining strong underwriting discipline.
Monitor portfolio performance, market developments and claims trends, and adjust strategies or actions to preserve and enhance profitability.
Partner with distribution, claims, actuarial and regional/international underwriting colleagues to deliver tailored risk solutions and support broader client management objectives.
Contribute to business planning, pipeline development and budget delivery, including identifying new opportunities with brokers and clients across target markets.
Support the development of underwriting guidelines, product enhancements and market strategy to strengthen Everest’s Wholesale and Facultative Financial Lines proposition in APAC.
Act as a technical reference point and mentor for colleagues over time, helping build underwriting capability and market credibility within the team.
Professional Experience and Skills
Experience in leading & coaching others, contribute to strategy and help build team capability over time.
Extensive underwriting experience in Financial Lines within APAC markets, with meaningful exposure to Wholesale and Facultative reinsurance or facultative placements for complex corporate risks.
Established broker and market relationships, with the credibility to represent Everest effectively and develop new business opportunities across the region.
Strong technical capability across one or more Financial Lines classes such as D&O, Professional Indemnity, Financial Institutions, Crime and Cyber.
Demonstrated ability to originate, structure and grow a profitable portfolio, with a proven track record of delivering underwriting profit and managing volatility.
Strong expertise in risk assessment, pricing, wording analysis and negotiation of facultative terms and conditions.
Commercially astute, analytically strong and highly collaborative, with the ability to work effectively across underwriting, claims, actuarial and distribution teams.
