Marine Structural Engineer

Role Overview
Design the mechanical and structural systems of underwater robots, ensuring robustness, hydrodynamics, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical structures, pressure housings, and actuation systems for AUV/ROV platforms.
- Perform structural analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to optimize performance in marine environments.
- Develop prototypes and oversee testing (pressure, corrosion, fatigue) .
- Collaborate on electronics packaging and thermal management solutions.
- Ensure design for manufacturability and assembly in collaboration with production engineers.
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 5-7 years in mechanical design, with a focus on electro-mechanical systems.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD software) .
- Experience with marine materials (6061-T6aluminum, PEEK, stainless steel, composites) .
- Familiarity with pressure vessel design ,underwater connectors, and sealing technologies.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping (machining, 3D printing).
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or related field .
Industry Experience: Required – direct experience with AUV/ROV/UUV or subsea robotics systems .
