Marine Structural Engineer

Role Overview

Design the mechanical and structural systems of underwater robots, ensuring robustness, hydrodynamics, and manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design mechanical structures, pressure housings, and actuation systems for AUV/ROV platforms.
  2. Perform structural analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to optimize performance in marine environments.
  3. Develop prototypes and oversee testing (pressure, corrosion, fatigue) .
  4. Collaborate on electronics packaging and thermal management solutions.
  5. Ensure design for manufacturability and assembly in collaboration with production engineers.

Qualifications

Experience: Minimum 5-7 years in mechanical design, with a focus on electro-mechanical systems.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD software) .
  • Experience with marine materials (6061-T6aluminum, PEEK, stainless steel, composites) .
  • Familiarity with pressure vessel design ,underwater connectors, and sealing technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping (machining, 3D printing).

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or related field .

Industry Experience: Required – direct experience with AUV/ROV/UUV or subsea robotics systems .
