Job Summary

The Automotive Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the engineering team in testing, validation, diagnostics, commissioning, and after-sales technical support for commercial vehicles and automotive systems. This role oversees engineering operations to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards while driving continuous improvement in product reliability, service quality, and operational efficiency.

Job resposiblities

  • Lead and manage the automotive engineering team to ensure the successful execution of testing, validation, diagnostics, and after-sales engineering activities.
  • Develop and implement engineering processes, technical standards, and quality control procedures to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the testing, validation, and commissioning of automotive vehicles, components, and systems.
  • Lead diagnostic investigations to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues.
  • Manage after-sales maintenance, repair, overhaul (MRO), and warranty support to ensure optimal vehicle performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Service, Production, Quality, Parts, and Sales, to resolve technical issues and improve product reliability.
  • Review and approve technical reports, failure analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective action plans.
  • Provide technical guidance and support during vehicle assembly, commissioning, customer acceptance, and post-delivery service.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering quality, operational efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
  • Analyse component failures and warranty claims to recommend design improvements and preventive actions.
  • Ensure engineering documentation, test records, service reports, and technical manuals are accurate and up to date.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop engineering staff through technical training and performance management.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, and manufacturers on technical matters and product improvement initiatives.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by Management.
  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of relevant automotive engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Experience with commercial vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, EV trucks, municipal vehicles, or special-purpose vehicles is highly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in vehicle diagnostics, testing, validation, commissioning, and after-sales technical support.
  • Good understanding of automotive safety standards, quality management systems, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis and failure investigation.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and engineering documentation systems.
  • Willing to travel occasionally for customer support, site visits, and overseas technical training when required.
