Role Overview

We are seeking a versatile and dynamic Quantity Surveyor-cum-Engineer to join our project team. In this dual role, you will bridge the gap between commercial cost management and on-site engineering execution. You will be responsible for overseeing project budgeting, contract administration, and variation orders, while simultaneously providing technical engineering support, coordinating on-site activities, and ensuring projects are executed according to technical specifications and timelines.

Key Responsibilities

Quantity Surveying & Cost Management

  • Cost Estimation & Budgeting: Prepare project feasibility studies, cost estimates, budgeting, and cost planning.

  • Tendering & Procurement: Source, evaluate, and negotiate sub-contractor quotes. Prepare tender documentations, bills of quantities (BQ), and cost comparison summaries.

  • Contract Administration: Handle progress claims, evaluation of sub-contractor claims, variation orders (VO), and final accounts closing.

  • Cost Control: Monitor and manage project expenditures to ensure costs remain within the approved budget.

Engineering & Project Coordination

  • Site Supervision & Coordination: Coordinate with clients, consultants, sub-contractors, and site teams to ensure smooth project progress.

  • Technical Support: Interpret architectural/structural drawings, resolve technical issues on-site, and ensure work complies with specifications and regulatory standards.

  • Progress Monitoring: Assist the Project Manager in tracking site milestones, updating schedules, and preparing monthly progress reports.

  • Quality & Safety: Ensure that all site engineering works comply with local building regulations, safety policies, and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of proven experience in the Singapore construction industry handling both QS and engineering/site coordination duties.

  • Technical Skills: * Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering, structural, and architectural drawings.

    • Strong knowledge of standard contract forms (e.g., SIA, PSSCOC).

    • Familiarity with estimation or CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Cubicost, or Glodon) is highly advantageous.

  • Soft Skills: Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to manage relationship with diverse stakeholders.

  • Attributes: Detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of working independently under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
