The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Fellow on a 30-month contract at the Director’s Office.
Project Title: Teachers’ AI Competency and Acceptance and Students’ Outcomes: A Self-Determination Theory Approach
Project Introduction: This research project seeks to explore the critical relationships between teachers’ AI competency and acceptance, and students’ outcomes, e.g., perceived autonomy-support, AI literacy, need satisfaction, motivation and engagement, using the Self-Determination Theory (SDT; Deci & Ryan, 1985, 2000) as the guiding framework. It has a 2-phase mixed-methods design, with a cross-sectional quantitative design in Phase 1 and a mixed-methods intervention design in Phase 2.
Requirements
PhD in Psychology, Education or a related field
Experience conducting quantitative and/or qualitative research
Excellent written and communicative skills
Disposition for critical thinking and inquiry
Good analytical skills
Excellent problem-solving skills
Proactive and able to work independently
Responsibilities
Manage the research project, including scheduling and budgeting
Propose, design and implement appropriate research methodologies and instruments
Assist in planning and executing tasks to achieve key deliverables
Liaise with schools for data collection and interviews
Conduct intervention training for teachers
Conduct quantitative analysis, including Structure Equation Modelling, using software programs (e.g., SPSS and EQS)
Conduct qualitative analysis using software programs (e.g., NVivo)
Prepare reports, publications and presentation materials
Present research findings through various platforms
Draft research proposals
Handle administrative matters related to the NIE’s Motivation in Educational Research Lab ( https://www.ntu.edu.sg/nie/research-labs/motivation-in-educational-research-laboratory-(merl)), including updating of the website
Any other administrative/research-related duties as assigned by Principal Investigator
