Technical Lead (1-Year Renewable Contract)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Technical Lead to lead the delivery of enterprise applications while providing technical leadership to a team of software engineers. This role is offered on a 1-year renewable contract, supporting a long-term strategic programme with a major system go-live planned for 2029. While the initial engagement is on a contract basis, the project is expected to run over multiple phases, offering long-term continuity.

You will be responsible for driving end-to-end software delivery, providing architectural guidance, mentoring development teams, and ensuring engineering best practices are consistently applied throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Drive the delivery of projects using Agile/Scrum methodologies, ensuring timely and high-quality releases.

  • Design scalable, secure, and maintainable application architectures and technical solutions.

  • Review solution designs, code quality, and technical documentation to ensure alignment with engineering standards.

  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.

  • Champion DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation to improve software delivery efficiency.

  • Identify technical risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and support production issue resolution where required.

  • Establish and promote software engineering best practices, coding standards, and governance.

  • Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies, including AI-assisted software development practices where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Technical Lead or equivalent technical leadership role.

  • Proven experience managing and mentoring development teams of 5 or more engineers for at least 3 years.

  • Strong experience delivering enterprise application projects using Agile/Scrum methodologies.

  • Solid experience in solution architecture, application design, and technical leadership.

  • Hands-on exposure to DevOps practices, including CI/CD and deployment automation.

  • Strong understanding of the end-to-end Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to AI-assisted SDLC/PDLC tools and practices (e.g. AI-assisted coding, testing, documentation, or code review).

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.

  • Experience with microservices, containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud-native application development.
