Full Stack System Engineer (Public Sector)

WEBSPARKS PTE. LTD.

  • 1-year contract, renewable
  • Government project
  • Hybrid work arrangement

The Role

You'll design, build, and operate the APIs, microservices, and backend platforms that power LTA's digital services — working at the intersection of full stack engineering, cloud infrastructure, and platform reliability. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes production seriously: clean code, tested thoroughly, monitored properly.

What You'll Do

  • Design and build RESTful and event-driven APIs and microservices in TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, and Python
  • Deploy and operate containerised services on Kubernetes (EKS); manage health checks, rolling deployments, and service configuration
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code for automated build, test, and deployment on AWS
  • Integrate with LTA's existing infrastructure — databases, message queues, third-party APIs
  • Build observability into everything: structured logging, distributed tracing, alerting dashboards
  • Translate stakeholder requirements into well-defined API contracts, data models, and system specs
  • Contribute to architecture discussions and platform scalability decisions
  • Support production on a rotating on-call basis

What We're Looking For

Must-haves

  • 2–4 years building and shipping production services on AWS with TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, or Python
  • Strong grounding in API design, microservices architecture, and distributed systems
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tooling
  • Comfort owning a feature end-to-end: from API design through deployment and incident response
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Strong pluses

  • CKA/CKAD or equivalent practical Kubernetes experience
  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, Developer Associate, or DevOps Engineer)
  • Terraform or CDK for infrastructure provisioning
  • Experience with government or public sector projects and compliance requirements (PDPA)
  • GitHub portfolio or open-source contributions
  • Master's degree in a relevant field

Nice to Have

  • Frontend experience with React or similar (REST/GraphQL consumption, responsive design)
  • Background in transportation, smart city, or public sector digital services

You'll Thrive Here If You

  • Think in systems and decompose complexity into clean, modular solutions
  • Write code you'd be proud to have reviewed — tested, documented, production-grade
  • Communicate clearly with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders
  • Operate well under pressure and stay methodical during incidents
