The Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customer support throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, and quality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutions for their most critical equipment and processes.

The impact you’ll make

The main function of this role is to drive performance excellence of Lam's Installed Base equipment in customer fabs by combining applied productivity engagement with advanced data science. The incumbent will understand Installed Base performance issues and opportunities related to fleet matching, drifting, and excursions, and leverage Lam Equipment Intelligence (EI) products to perform big data analysis that guides root-cause investigation and troubleshooting for Field Service & Process Engineers. Work as an extended team of the factory Data Science and Application Development teams to co-research and develop leading-edge analytics to visualize and model equipment behavior for chamber matching, anomaly detection, and predictive analytics for the field service team and aActively engage with the Data Science team and customers to identify opportunities for analytical model enhancement and to further improve Lam EI Products.

What you’ll do

  • Improve productivity by assessing Installed Base metrics & completing data analysis to map out engagement opportunities using EI products
  • Executing customer engagements through redution of tool-related escalations, maintenance/QC time & implement Continuous Improvement Projects
  • Guide analysis for escalation troubleshooting related to tool matching, drifts & outliers
  • Front internal & external customers on data analytical discussions, train field engineers on EI products, understand process control requirements and adapt products into customer Statistical Process Control
  • Develop leading-edge analytic methods, models & solutions that enhance tool performance & optimize customer productivity
  • Collaborate with AT/PG to support data science–related customer projects for hardware penetration & defense
  • Provide input to product development team from customer applications perspective defining customer problems & objectives
  • Explore machine learning technologies to improve existing models by working with corporate Data Science/Application Development teams by providing ML/analytic guidance & training to AT engineers and customers
  • Identify probable root causes through data analysis & suggest corrective/preventive maintenance actions
  • Communicate with customer for machine learning implementation alignment
  • Present conclusions & recommendations to internal technical/executives & customers
  • Raise modeling requests to dedicated internal Data Scientists when deeper development is required
  • Take on ad-hoc duties as and when assigned by the Immediate Supervisor

Who we’re looking for

  • Bachelor's degree with minimum of 2 years of semiconductor-relevant experience in customer-facing roles or in a Fab operation, with strong tool knowledge (tool sensors, process, and hardware).
  • Knowledge of statistical methods for multivariate data set modeling, including machine learning techniques and methods for modeling physical/electro-mechanical systems
  • Experience in analytic methodology development with coding ability in R, Python, C/C++, Java, or Matlab
  • Experience in JMP will be advantageous
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively across all levels of Lam and with customers
  • Good technical presentation and good communication skills required; multi-cultural and cross-functional working experience in more than one country will be advantageous

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
