Job Title: Bread Shop Supervisor

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated, hands-on, and highly responsible Bread Shop Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our bakery. The successful candidate must have strong experience in bread and cake production, possess leadership skills, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-temperature working environment where fresh products are baked and sold continuously throughout the day.

This role requires a proactive individual who leads by example, maintains high product quality, ensures operational efficiency, and delivers excellent customer service while meeting production and sales targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily operations of the bread shop, ensuring smooth workflow and efficient production.
  • Lead, train, motivate, and monitor bakery staff to maintain high performance and productivity.
  • Prepare, bake, and decorate a variety of breads, cakes, pastries, and other bakery products according to company standards.
  • Ensure fresh products are baked continuously throughout the day to meet customer demand.
  • Maintain strict quality control over ingredients, preparation, baking, presentation, and freshness.
  • Monitor inventory levels, place orders when required, and minimise wastage through effective stock management.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety regulations at all times.
  • Handle customer enquiries and complaints professionally while maintaining excellent service standards.
  • Monitor daily sales performance and implement strategies to improve productivity and profitability.
  • Coordinate staff schedules to ensure adequate manpower during peak operating hours.
  • Perform opening and closing duties, including cash handling and daily operational reporting.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of all bakery equipment, workstations, and retail display areas.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a bakery, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Proven experience in baking both bread and cakes from scratch.
  • Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, fermentation, dough preparation, cake production, and product finishing.
  • Good leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Critical Requirements

  • Able to stand for long hours and physically demanding role.
  • Must be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure bakery environment.
  • Comfortable working in a hot environment due to continuous baking and freshly prepared products throughout the day.
  • Able to lift flour bags, trays, and bakery equipment when required.
  • Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining consistent product quality.
  • Able to make quick decisions and solve operational issues under pressure.
  • Reliable, punctual, disciplined, and committed to maintaining high operational standards.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with commercial bakery equipment and ovens.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and cost control.
  • Familiarity with food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Basic computer skills for reporting and stock management.
