Roles & Responsibilities
The Halal Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that the company’s operations, products, suppliers, and facilities comply with all applicable halal requirements, certification standards, food safety regulations, and company policies. The officer shall maintain the integrity of halal products throughout procurement, storage, processing, transportation, and distribution.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with halal certification requirements and company halal policies.
- Liaise with relevant halal certification authorities regarding applications, renewals, inspections, and audits.
- Maintain and update all halal-related documentation, records, certificates, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Verify that all raw materials, ingredients, additives, packaging materials, and suppliers possess valid halal certification where required.
- Conduct periodic internal halal audits and identify areas requiring corrective or preventive action.
- Monitor expiry dates of halal certificates and coordinate timely renewals.
- * Ensure proper segregation of halal and non-halal products throughout receiving, storage, processing, transportation, and delivery.
- Work closely with procurement to approve halal-compliant suppliers and products.
- Coordinate with warehouse and operations teams to maintain halal integrity during daily operations.
- Investigate any halal non-conformance, contamination risks, or customer complaints and recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct halal awareness training and refresher programmes for employees.
- Prepare the company for external halal audits and regulatory inspections.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and quality assurance procedures.
- Monitor updates to halal regulations and communicate regulatory changes to management.
- Assist management in implementing continuous improvements to the company’s halal management system.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, corrective actions, training, supplier approvals, and audit findings.
- Support customer enquiries relating to halal certification and compliance.
- Perform any other duties assigned by Management.
