Manufacturing Engineer (Motor Vehicle)

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise the manufacturing, assembly, repair, and refurbishment of commercial vehicles, prime movers, trailers, and heavy equipment.
  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, fabrication plans, work instructions, and technical documentation.
  • Oversee vehicle assembly, chassis modifications, engine installation, gearbox fitting, hydraulic systems, braking systems, suspension, and electrical wiring.
  • Diagnose and resolve manufacturing, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues during production.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve product reliability.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, customers, and internal departments regarding engineering specifications and project requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with LTA, MOM, Workplace Safety & Health (WSH), and relevant Singapore industry standards.
  • Monitor quality inspections and ensure finished vehicles meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate production equipment, tools, fixtures, and manufacturing methods to improve efficiency and reduce production costs.
  • Support vehicle commissioning, testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and final acceptance before delivery.
  • Prepare engineering reports, production schedules, Bills of Materials (BOM), and technical documentation.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen principles.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to technicians, welders, mechanics, and production staff.
  • Perform site visits, customer technical support, and after-sales engineering support when required.
  • Carry out any other engineering duties assigned by Management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in commercial vehicles, heavy trucks, prime movers, trailers, or automotive manufacturing is preferred.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, pneumatics, auto electrical systems, and vehicle diagnostics.
  • Familiar with AutoCAD or SolidWorks and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong problem-solving, project coordination, and communication skills.
