Canteen Cook (Chinese Cuisine)

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare daily Chinese-style meals for staff, including rice, noodle, and vegetable dishes, as well as soups and side dishes.
  • Execute cooking techniques such as wok frying, steaming, braising, and dim sum preparation with precision.
  • Ensure all meals meet company standards for taste, presentation, and portion control.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen in compliance with food safety regulations (SFA standards).
  • Manage ingredient inventory—order supplies, monitor stock levels, and minimise food waste.
  • Collaborate with the canteen team to plan weekly menus that balance variety, nutrition, and cost efficiency.
  • Support special company events with themed menus or festive dishes.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a cook specialising in Chinese cuisine, ideally in a canteen, cafeteria, or high-volume kitchen.
  • Strong knowledge of traditional Chinese cooking methods and flavour profiles.
  • Ability to work efficiently under time constraints while maintaining quality.
  • Familiarity with food safety and hygiene standards (WSQ Food Hygiene certification preferred).
  • Good teamwork skills and a positive, service-oriented attitude.
  • Physical stamina to handle long hours on your feet in a busy kitchen environment.
