Core Responsibilities

  • Strong understanding of Data Warehousing/Lakehouse concepts and Medallion architecture
  • Dashboard Design: Architect complex, multi-page reports that provide both high-level KPIs and granular drill-down capabilities.
  • Data Modeling & Integration: Configure seamless connections between Looker Studio and BigQuery. Design semantic layers and governed datasets.
  • Performance Optimization: Implement strategies to reduce report latency, such as optimizing SQL queries, utilizing BigQuery BI Engine, and managing data extraction schedules. Establish data modeling strategies for optimized reporting performance.
  • Governance & Security: Establish best practices for data access control, credential management, and versioning to ensure data integrity and privacy.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Translate ambiguous business requirements into technical specifications and user-centric visualizations.

Technical Skills & Requirements

1) Platform Expertise

Mastery of Looker Studio and Looker Studio Pro. Experience with LookML

2) Data Querying

Advanced SQL skills for data transformation and custom querying in BigQuery.

3) Data Engineering

Experience with ETL/ELT processes and data warehousing (primarily Google Cloud Platform).

4) Advanced Analytics

Proficiency in creating Calculated Fields, using RegEx, and implementing complex data blending.

5) Visualization

Strong grasp of UI/UX principles for dashboard designing (color theory, cognitive load, navigation).

Key Qualifications

  • Experience: 7+ years in Business Intelligence or Data Architecture, with at least 2 years focused specifically on the Google Cloud / Looker ecosystem.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to see beyond "charts" and understand how data architecture supports long-term business goals.
  • Problem Solving: Skilled at troubleshooting data discrepancies between source systems and the visualization layer.
  • Communication: Comfortable presenting technical architectures to non-technical executive leadership.
