This position is responsible for leading and managing Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs for the Singapore site while supporting APAC regional EHS initiatives. The role drives a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory, corporate, and management system requirements, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and providing EHS leadership across operations. The incumbent serves as the Registered Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Officer for the Singapore site and acts as the EHS representative for New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, and appropriately controlled to protect employees, company assets, and business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) for the Singapore site and ensure compliance with applicable workplace safety, health, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and manage site EHS programs, inspections, audits, and continuous improvement activities to ensure safe and compliant operations.
- Support APAC EHS initiatives, compliance activities, risk assessments, and regional programs where required.
- Serve as the EHS representative for Singapore and APAC New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including EHS assessments, process change reviews, risk identification, and implementation of required controls before commercialization.
- Lead risk assessments, incident investigations, near-miss reviews, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions.
- Manage contractor safety programs, including Permit-to-Work systems and contractor EHS compliance.
- Conduct Safety GEMBA walks, workplace inspections, safety audits, and follow-up actions to drive hazard identification and risk reduction.
- Chair or support the Site EHS Committee and lead EHS meetings, safety campaigns, and employee engagement activities.
- Monitor and report EHS performance through proactive and reactive programs, including noise mapping, industrial hygiene, trade effluent, air emission monitoring, and other regulatory monitoring requirements.
- Maintain EHS documentation required under the EHS management system, including incident records, risk assessments, chemical inventories, licenses, permits, Safety Data Sheets, training records, and regulatory submissions.
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs to build employee awareness, competency, and ownership of safety requirements.
- Support Business Continuity Planning, emergency preparedness, first aid, fire safety, and security-related activities.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, internal stakeholders, customers, and auditors on EHS-related matters.
REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma/Degree in Engineering, preferably in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, or related scientific field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Engineering)
- Registered Workplace, Safety and Health Officer (WSHO)
- Preferably Certified as Fire Safety Manager
- Certified Biosafety Lab/Biosafety Coordinator is an advantage
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable EHS regulations, standards and management systems (OSHA, GDP& GMP)
- Strong technical expertise in industrial hygiene, chemical safety, hazardous materials, and environmental compliance
- Experience developing and delivering EHS training programs and leading safety initiatives
- Proven ability to conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and audits
- Excellent project management and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities with all levels of the organization
- Proficiency with EHS software systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with emergency response and business continuity planning
- Demonstrated success in organizational change initiatives
- Multi-site or global experience preferred
