Job Type: Contract, Hourly Rated (1 December 2026 to 30 November 2027, with options to extend for up to 2 additional years)
Working Hours
- School Terms: Mondays to Fridays, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (inclusive of a 30-minute lunch break).
- School Holidays: Preparation work may be scheduled on selected weekdays from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
- Off on Saturdays, Sundays, and gazetted public holidays.
Roles & Responsibilities
We are seeking a capable and experienced Nutrition and Food Science (NFS) Lab Assistant to manage operations and support lessons within our food laboratories. You will work closely with our teaching staff to ensure a safe, efficient, and well-stocked learning environment for our students.
- Lab Maintenance & Hygiene: Take charge of the daily upkeep, sweeping, mopping, and tidying of the food laboratories and preparation rooms.
- Lesson & Exam Support: Actively prepare materials, tools, and kitchen units to support daily practical lessons and national examinations.
- Ingredient Logistics: Collate recipe orders from teachers and carry out timely procurement/ordering of fresh food ingredients.
- Administrative Documentation: Support the NFS unit with essential filing and office tracking, including invoices, receipts, delivery orders, and billings.
- Inventory Control: Conduct regular internal asset checking, equipment stock-takes, and manage the logistics of reference books and equipment loans.
- Vendor & Department Liaison: Coordinate directly with external contractors regarding commercial kitchen equipment maintenance, and assist other school departments utilizing the lab facilities.
Requirements
- Academic Qualifications: Minimum Secondary School education or equivalent.
- Work Experience: Mandatory minimum of three (3) years of similar experience working within a school environment.
- Certifications: Must hold a valid, relevant certification in food hygiene, food preparation, and food safety.
- Language & IT Skills: Ability to clearly converse and maintain records in English, with baseline proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel).
