About the Role

In this role, you will perform underwriting assessment for POS requests such as increase in sum assured, inclusion of riders and non-disclosure cases. You will also be handling underwriting appeals.

Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite POS requests and communicate decision to intermediaries within agreed TAT with competitive underwriting decision and minimal requirement(s) calling. This will include negotiating with reinsurers for terms favorable to placing the business.

  • Ensure cases are underwritten within the agreed TAT.

  • Resolving enquiries and issues with channel management is also part of the responsibility of this role.

  • Actively handling appeals on substandard and postpone/ decline cases by directly communicating with the agents or BDM on the rationale and any other option that can be explored.

  • Review and identify area of process improvement or operational efficiency within the area of work.

  • Work on ad hoc projects (eg review underwriting guidelines/ requirements)

  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification, preferably in Science, Biology, Nursing, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Business Studies.
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years working experience in individual life and health insurance underwriting.
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills
  • Analytical and self-motivated.
  • Able to work independently and under pressure.
