Job Summary

Lead kitchen operations by planning menus within budget, training staff, managing inventory, and ensuring food quality and safety standards. Develop new recipes and adapt to industry trends while maintaining high performance during busy periods including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Plan menus considering budget constraints and seasonal ingredient availability to optimize cost and quality
  • Oversee all kitchen operations to ensure smooth workflow and timely food service
  • Coordinate and assist kitchen staff to maintain productivity and quality standards
  • Train kitchen staff to prepare and cook menu items consistently and safely
  • Take stock of ingredients and equipment, placing timely orders to maintain adequate inventory levels
  • Enforce strict safety and sanitation standards to comply with health regulations
  • Create new recipes to refresh the menu and attract customers
  • Monitor industry trends and incorporate relevant innovations into kitchen practices
  • Collect and analyze customer feedback to implement continuous improvements
  • Adapt flexibly to various kitchen roles including dishwashing and waste disposal when needed
  • Work extended hours including weekends and public holidays to meet operational demands

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Demonstrated 15 years of experience specializing in Sichuan, Northeastern, and Hunan cuisines
  • Proven advanced culinary arts knowledge with a portfolio of creative and unique dishes
  • Strong multitasking skills to manage multiple kitchen activities simultaneously
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate and manage kitchen teams
  • Ability to maintain perfectionism in sanitation and quality control
  • Experience running stocktaking processes and managing supply orders
  • Resilience and exemplary work ethic in high-pressure kitchen environments
