Quality Engineering Manager

NextLabs (www.nextlabs.com), a Silicon Valley technology company, is the leading provider of policy-driven information risk management (IRM) software for large enterprises, has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineering Manager to be part of the product organization in creating the next generation data protection and entitlement manager solutions. Our customers include many prominent enterprises in Aerospace & Defense, Financial Services, and High-Tech Manufacturing and Engineering industries.

We are looking for a highly motivated quality engineering leader who is passionate about driving quality in every dimension, from test automation and performance engineering to reliability and operational excellence across the full software delivery life cycle. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a loosely structured organization and capable of managing multiple assignments in parallel.

Responsibilities

Quality Strategy & Leadership

·Define and drive the overall quality engineering strategy, ensuring products meet the highest standards of reliability, performance, and readiness to ship.

·Oversee test plans, test cases, test matrices, and bug reporting processes, performing regular coverage and gap analysis to prioritize testing efforts.

·Monitor, track, and report test status and defect statistics to relevant stakeholders.

Automation, Tooling & CI/CD

·Drive automation initiatives across functional, API, platform, and performance testing to continuously assess product quality and delivery readiness.

·Integrate quality gates into CI/CD pipelines, championing a shift-left approach to defect prevention.

·Evaluate and maintain test automation frameworks and tooling to improve efficiency and coverage.

Infrastructure, Architecture & Deployments

·Set up and maintain test environmentsspanning on-premises and cloud-native platforms, including DR and HAvalidation.

·Apply capacity planning and sizing expertise to inform infrastructure and deployment decisions.

·Maintain a strong understanding of product and distributed system architecture to guide testing strategies.

Engineering & Customer Collaboration

· Work closely with Engineering to troubleshoot and triage defects, ensuring bugs, enhancements, and change requests follow the established lifecycle.

· Partner with Engineering and Technical Publications teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage and accurate documentation.

·Occasionally liaise with customers on product deployments and environment setup to ensure smooth and supported rollouts

·Incorporate security and compliance testing practices aligned with NextLabs' Zero Trust and policy enforcement domain.

Cross-functional & Team Development

·Coordinate with cross-functional teams including NextLabs Asia and US offices to ensure compatibility and deliver cohesive, integrated solutions.

·Hire, mentor, and develop junior members of the quality engineering team.

Requirements

Education &Experience

·Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).

·Minimum of 10 years of professional quality engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership capacity.

·Solid understanding of the product life cycle within an agile software development environment.

Leadership &Management

· Proven track record of building, training, and mentoring high-performing QA and quality engineering teams.

·Demonstrates strong initiative, flexibility, and the ability to concurrently manage multiple deadline-driventasks and projects.

·Ability to troubleshoot and analyze application issues to root cause, and coach team members to do the same.

Testing & Automation

·Exceptional skills in designing and implementing test plans, test cases, and test scripts.

·Strong experience building test automation frameworks across functional, API, and performance testing.

·Familiarity with commercial and open-source test automation and test case management tools such as Selenium, Quality Center, QTP, Silk Test, or Apache Cactus.

·Experience with performance and load testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner.

·Experience testing distributed enterprise applications deployed across on-premises and cloud-native environments.

·Experience integrating quality gates into CI/CD pipelines is a plus.

Infrastructure, Monitoring & Architecture

·Basic proficiency in UNIX environments and shell scripting.

· Working knowledge of at least one relational database such as Oracle, MS SQL, or PostgreSQL.

·Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.

·Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm charts is a plus.

·Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure is a plus.

·Familiarity with DR, HA, and capacity planning concepts as they relate to test environment management is a plus.
