Data Centre Resident Technician (Rack / Stack, Cabling, Banking)

We are looking to hire Data Centre Resident Technicians to support Data Center operations / projects for our client in Singapore which is a leading global investment bank.

Responsibilities

Hardware Support

  • IMAC - Installations, move, add, change, decommission of IT equipment (networks, servers, networks, storage, backup devices and hardware)
  • Coordination of disposal of decommissioned hardware
  • Connect and disconnect cable patches to equipment in data center
  • Hardware break fix support – installation of parts, reseat module, SFP module replacement, HDD / memory replacement
  • Physical / visual inspection
  • Provide onsite support during power down / up activities
  • Troubleshooting of issues for IT equipment
  • Receive delivery or arrange for delivery
  • Arrange return of RMA parts to vendors
  • Support network equipment RMA
  • Perform end to end cable patching
  • Coordinate with vendor for cable patching and support procurement
  • Perform cable tracing for cable removal activity
  • Perform cable removal request
  • Perform rack and stack for all the network equipment or non-networking equipment purchase

Inventory Management

  • Management of data center inventory records (list of devices installed in IT facilities, spare parts and storage Rooms)
  • Perform regular asset inventory accuracy inspection
  • Inventory/documentation updates for new installation of structured cabling and cabling material
  • Capacity management (space, power, cooling, cable material, patch panel port, and open frame port availability)
  • Update Inventory portal with accurate information patch panel inventory including open frame port inventory and cabling material availability

Facility Support

  • Vendor escort / supervision

Others

  • Change management process
  • Support physical access control and processes
  • Support and follow the incident management process
  • Data center access request management
  • Provide regular reporting on progress as required (i.e. move, change, support request tickets, change tickets, etc.)
  • Support procurement processes
  • Regular reporting, maintain, develop and improve reporting capabilities
  • Provide support regionally in countries and locations managed by APAC data center services team

Requirements

  • Min of 2 years of working experience in data center
  • Good understanding and knowledge in data cabling, i.e. structured cabling and patching
  • Good level of experience with inventory management
  • Good level of experience with supporting change and incident management
  • Good level of experience with project coordination
  • Good documentation skills and record keeping
  • Experienced in hardware support, breakfix and troubleshooting
  • Ability to respond to issues and provide timely update, and escalation

Good-to-Have Requirements

  • Professional certification would be good but not mandatory i.e. CCNA, MSCE, etc.
