Technical Projects Director – Mechanical Technical Lead
Job Description Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Lead Engineer (PM) with a minimum of 15 years of experience in designing, planning, and managing mechanical systems for infrastructure fit-out projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of mechanical systems in a variety of infrastructure newbuild projects in critical environments, preferably data centres.
This is an exciting role for a talented individual looking to excel in a regional role based in Singapore. You will have experience of being the technical lead, executing multiple activities, working collaboratively with Clients, Consultants and Contractors to support the development of newbuild Datacenters across the APAC Region.
Only candidates with full fluency in English, experienced in Technical Projects and Engineering / Construction Management, and without restrictions to work in Singapore will be considered.
Review, comment and align Mechanical, Plumbing and Fire Protection drawings and design documentation using Google Workspace, BIM360 and 3Dx cloud platforms for technical, coordination and quality content and escalate to Google consultants and contractors to prioritize focus on critical items that affect the schedule and cost during design meetings and meet all Google Standards, Guidelines, OPRs and Narratives
Attend design meetings and provide continual input to optimize design and minimize unnecessary work. Provide clear direction to partners on the path forward given a set of problems or problem statements
Report all issues, progress and blocking items efficiently and effectively to the Technical Program Manager and Technical Lead. Take direction and support the Technical Project Manager and Technical Lead to ensure projects are delivered effectively.
Provide technical support to all designs for systems identified for off site manufacture. Identify any improvements to further improve design for manufacture.
Collaborate and coordinate with internal and external partners teams to ensure technical, safety, schedule, cost and quality requirements are maintained.
Coordinate with approved vendors and contractors on designs, equipment and ensure alignment with all Google Standards, Guidelines, OPRs and Narratives and through collaboration, ensure continual concurrence until scope and designs are accepted
Provide technical support, analysis and calculation of mechanical, plumbing and fire protection systems. Work on design studies for new projects.
Use of the standard checklists, trackers and tools through Google Workspace, BIM360 and 3Dx cloud platforms to do QA/QC peer review of design documents
Assist in the development of comprehensive scope-of-works and contract document deliverables lists for any new scope identified
Escalate known design issues that have impacts to each affected discipline (CSA, electrical, EHS, Controls, etc) and ensure clear communication to all teams; Coordinate and ensure timely alignment with internal and external partners. Ensure alignment between engineering disciplines
Analysis of designs in Revit/ Solidworks through the BIM360 and 3Dx platforms for potential design optimization opportunities.
Ensure timely review and close out of deliverable issues.
Maintain scope and log any changes\ issues including preparation of studies and\ or presentations on design, cost and schedule impacts of those changes
Provide and Update owner standard documentation (Specs, and programming documents), as design improvements are made
Support internal and external teams for thermal analysis, hydraulic analysis, CFD and acoustic studies
Ensure designs meet regulations and standards identified in the Guidelines, OPRs, Narratives and Specifications for the countries identified in Europe.
Provide administrative assistance on project documentation including revision control, deliverable tracking and final upload ot the AODocs cloud database system
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or a related field.
Professional Engineer (PE)or Chartered Engineer (CEng) license preferred.
Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in designing and managing mechanical systems for newbuild or infrastructure fit-out projects.
In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, codes, standards, and practices for infrastructure fit-out projects.
Proficiency in mechanical design software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, BIM350, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), HVAC system simulation software).
Strong understanding of HVAC systems, including cooling towers, chillers, air handling units, and control systems.
Experience with plumbing and piping design, including water distribution, fire protection, and plumbing fixtures.
Familiarity with energy-efficient design principles and sustainability practices for mechanical systems.
Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver projects on schedule.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and client stakeholders.
