About The Role

As a CBRE Divisional Finance Director, you are expected to significantly contribute to the achievement of the Division’s growth plan through the setting and delivery of key initiatives, active leadership of people and processes, a high level of customer interaction and engagement and governance of the Company’s financial reporting and compliance requirements.

Working closely with the Divisional Leadership Team, the individual is expected to identify, analyse and implement opportunities to enhance business performance and partner with the leadership team to add value to decision making and contribute to the development and implementation of the overall divisional and company business plan.

Building buy-in from the Divisional Leadership Team will be critical to the success of this role. A deep understanding of the Division and its customers, while ensuring consistent application of finance processes and procedures, will be a critical success factor.

What You’ll Do

Customer

  • Developing high quality and effective Client relationships especially across the Business Units building long term, effective relationships.
  • Build good working relationship with Managing Director and other member of the Divisional senior management team.
  • Liaising with the wider CBRE Finance, Controllership, BSO or FP&A team to fulfill any ad hoc information requests.
  • Understand, report & deliver on the contractual obligation’s complex contractual obligations, such as glide path savings and customer GMP commitments, recognizing revenue and costs in a timely manner.
  • Drive new business wins from ensuring correct financial oversight during the tender stage through to successful transition.
  • Drive CBRE transformation and client initiatives, working closely with other functions to ensure full alignment of deliverables and results.
  • Positively respond to both our internal and external customers (often in a matrix environment) through effective communication and personal accessibility/credibility.

Financial Reporting

  • Review and challenge monthly Business Unit P&L, Balance Sheet and forecast submissions.
  • Participate in monthly formal Divisional and Business Unit Reviews, attending formal monthly Contract and Project Reviews on a regular basis prioritizing underperforming contracts/projects.
  • Prepare accurate Divisional reports in line with company timetable including monthly reporting, plans and forecasts.
  • Prepare cost-benefit reports and proactive analytical works to facilitate continuous improvement of business unit performance.
  • Assess forecast and plan submissions, identify opportunities and risks to the underlying assumptions.
  • Drive continuous improvement for timely, accurate and efficient reporting.
  • Provide ad-hoc support and financial analysis as required.

Finance Leadership

  • Build, develop and leverage strong relationships with key stakeholders across Operations, Finance, Controllership, BSO and FP&A to work collaboratively and improve opportunities.
  • Ensure business issues are identified promptly, communicated to the appropriate level and resolution monitored via the CBRE monthly contract, project and business unit review process.
  • Constantly seek to improve quality, service and efficiency. Contribute to the evaluation and development of the divisional strategy and Target Operating Model.
  • Communicate regularly with divisional financial and contract support staff to ensure they are fully informed of operational objectives and achievements.
  • Ensure BU F&CSM’s take responsibility for Balance Sheet governance together with compliance with SOX control requirements.
  • Maximise business performance based on understanding of market requirements and changes and ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Active management of overheads whilst seeking out areas for efficiencies for savings.
  • Ensure use of best practice, communication and understanding of key business messages through monthly site visits with focus on under-performing contracts.
  • Identify, analyse and resolve potential business risks as well as opportunities and solutions to enhance business performance.
  • Demonstrate honesty & integrity through leadership style and actions

Finance Processes, Procedures and Reporting

  • Have thorough knowledge of procedures and processes and lead the delivery of these to the required standard.
  • Leverage in depth understanding of financial systems or tools to develop processes that facilitate a more efficient and /or accurate reporting outcome and enable the decision-making process.
  • Develop and deliver processes, systems and infrastructure to support growth and expansion.
  • Prepare and deliver financial reports as required by the Customer, Divisional or Business Group management.
  • Continually drive best practice to maximize the efficiency benefits of CBRE ERP’s and systems, eliminating all manual processes, journals and reporting.

Finance Planning

  • Lead the preparation of the annual Divisional plan submissions, identify opportunities and risks based on trends and business knowledge.
  • Lead discussion on budgeting & forecasting analysis and correlation to actual performance.
  • Challenge the Division when performance trending off track, identifying opportunities and risks to results.
  • Ensure balance sheet and cash flow Plans are prepared

Financial Governance

  • Ensure and check the Divisional finance reports in line with the monthly company timetable.
  • Ensure CBRE and statutory obligations are met for reporting & governance purposes and adhered to consistently through the Division.
  • Mange compliance to all company policies and procedures, including all SOX controls and accounting requirements.
  • Own the financial integrity of the Divisional P&L and Balance Sheet.
  • Develop targets and benchmarking processes to challenge the financial information provided by Divisional Finance staff.
  • Provide information and resolve issues raised by both external and internal auditors.

People Management

  • Build, lead and motivate a diverse and effective team. Empower team members to take responsibility and accountability.
  • Convey messages and ideas clearly and openly. Involve people and influence decisions.
  • Provide regular feedback and guidance to BU F&CSM’s.
  • Lead structured performance management, personal development, talent and succession activities to ensure that there is a robust pipeline of talent available.

What You’ll Need

  • Hold a Chartered Account qualification (or equivalent).
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Worked in a complex MNC with hands on experience of managing teams
  • Proven commercial acumen and ability to contribute to decision-making
  • Candidates with experience in dealing with GMP, Cost Plus and Fixed Price commercial models or have been involved in acquisitions, including the integration of new businesses will have an added advantage.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with strong oral presentation skills
  • Ability to combine strategic vision with hands-on, pragmatic delivery.
