Sous Chef (Western Café)

We're looking for a passionate and hands-on Sous Chef to join our growing café team. If you have strong leadership skills, enjoy creating quality Western cuisine, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we'd love to have you on board.

As our Sous Chef, you'll work independently to oversee daily kitchen operations, maintain exceptional food quality, and mentor the culinary team while ensuring every guest enjoys a consistently outstanding dining experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations to ensure smooth workflow and timely service
  • Lead and supervise the kitchen team during food preparation and service to maintain operational efficiency
  • Prepare and present dishes according to company standards to ensure consistent quality and guest satisfaction
  • Monitor and maintain consistency in food quality, taste, and presentation across all menu items
  • Control food costs by monitoring inventory levels, ordering stock accurately, and minimising wastage
  • Ensure full compliance with Singapore food hygiene, safety, and sanitation regulations to maintain a safe kitchen environment
  • Train, coach, and motivate junior chefs and kitchen staff to enhance team skills and performance
  • Support menu development, seasonal promotions, and recipe standardisation to innovate and maintain menu appeal
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment at all times
  • Take charge of kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef to ensure uninterrupted service

Required competencies and certifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a supervisory kitchen role, preferably as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie
  • Strong experience in Western café or casual dining cuisine
  • Proven leadership and team management skills demonstrated by successfully leading kitchen teams
  • Good understanding of inventory control, food costing, and kitchen operations applied to optimize resources
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a high-volume kitchen environment
  • Positive attitude and excellent communication skills to foster a collaborative and motivated team
  • Passion for delivering quality food that meets customer expectations

  • Salary: S$3,500 – S$3,800 per month
