For an upcoming drilling rig construction and reactivation project in Singapore, Peak Ocean is assembling an owner-side PMT. We are seeking a highly experienced Coating Lead Inspector to serve as a Client Representative in this role.
The Role: Client Representative — Coating Lead Inspector Inspection
As part of the Peak Ocean PMT, you will act strictly in the client's interest, reporting to the Construction Manager. Your mission is to ensure all surface preparation, coating application, and corrosion protection work meets specification, protecting the long-term integrity of the asset while keeping the coating schedule aligned with overall construction progress.
- Lead and supervise the Coating Inspector (NACE 1/2/3) team, reviewing their inspection findings and daily reports.
- Review and approve coating specifications, surface preparation standards, and coating application procedures.
- Conduct senior-level inspection on critical or complex coating scopes (e.g., ballast tanks, splash-zone areas, high-durability topside coatings).
- Drive resolution of coating non-conformances, coordinating repair/rework plans with the shipyard.
- Liaise with coating manufacturers and Classification Society surveyors on coating system approvals and non-standard cases.
- Report coating quality status, schedule risk, and punch-list progress to the Construction Manager.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Materials, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Valid NACE Level 3 (Coating Inspector) certification, or equivalent (e.g., FROSIO/BGAS), is mandatory.
- Minimum 8–12 years of coating inspection experience in offshore/marine fabrication, with at least 3 years in a supervisory/lead inspection role.
- Strong working knowledge of surface preparation standards (SSPC/ISO 8501) and coating system specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and clear, factual reporting skills.
