Senior Data Engineer (Tech)

The Opportunity

Duration: 8-Month Contract

We are partnering with a leading global technology company to hire an experienced Data Engineer to support large-scale data initiatives within a high-growth social media and advertising ecosystem. This role will focus on driving data insights for live video advertising products, analysing user engagement, advertiser behaviour, content performance, and organic versus paid interactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Engineers to define business requirements and success metrics.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data solutions.
• Develop dashboards, logging frameworks, and reporting tools from the ground up.
• Analyse large-scale product, advertiser, and engagement datasets to generate actionable insights.
• Identify gaps in data infrastructure and recommend improvements.
• Support data quality, governance, privacy, and compliance initiatives.
• Drive data-informed decision-making across product and business teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering or a related technical role.
• Expert-level SQL skills with experience working on large-scale datasets.
• Advanced Python programming skills for scripting, automation, and data engineering use cases.
• Strong hands-on experience with Spark, Hive, Presto, or similar big data technologies.
• Proven experience building data pipelines, dashboards, and data solutions from scratch.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted coding and development tools is highly advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and navigate ambiguous problem statements.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience within technology, social media, e-commerce, ride-hailing, food delivery, or other consumer internet platforms with large user bases is highly preferred.
